If Newt Gingrich Did This Would CNN Call it a Coup?

Imagine for a second. Bill Clinton is in the White House. Newt Gingrich travels to Ireland and meets with Rev Ian Paisley to explain how America has a deep interest in bringing peace to Northern Ireland. . .
Says that he had a beer with Maggie Thatcher and that he was bringing a message from her and Sinn Fein that peace talks would work this time.
What if Iron Maggie said this was complete bullshit?
What would the Democrats (and CNN) have said? Words like "coup", "meddling", "interfering in a sovereign state's affairs", "usurpation of authority", "Constitutional Crisis" spring to mind.

Summarized from Washington Post
HOUSE SPEAKER Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) offered an excellent demonstration yesterday of why members of Congress should not attempt to supplant the secretary of state when traveling abroad.

After a meeting with Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad in Damascus, Ms. Pelosi announced that she had delivered a message from Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert that "Israel was ready to engage in peace talks" with Syria.

Only one problem: The Israeli prime minister entrusted Ms. Pelosi with no such message. "What was communicated to the U.S. House Speaker does not contain any change in the policies of Israel," [...]

The really striking development here is the attempt by a Democratic congressional leader to substitute her own foreign policy for that of a sitting Republican president.
