A Fisk of a Review of The Latest Gore Book of Bullshit

The event we've all been waiting for has occurred. Al Gore has released his new book "The Assault on Reason" which gives us all a chance to reasonably tear it to shreds. Yippee.

This review is on Amazon.com and was written by the author of The Complete Guide to Walt Disney World. How apt.

I can't post this on Amazon cause I would need to buy a book, which I ain't about to do.

Here's a radical idea: Americans can govern themselves best by having clear-headed, reasoned public discussions on the important topics of the day. A thought from Thomas Paine? Your high school civics teacher? No, Al Gore. That's the theme of this clear-headed, reasoned, and yes, even passionate argument on what's wrong with our country and how we can fix it.
-- I'd rather trust in a high school civics teacher than that ballooned blowhard. But maybe that's just me.

Yes, it bashes Bush, but how can it not? It's impossible to argue against the chatterbox shrillness of today's public debate without mentioning the subjects being debated. And if you're going to seriously examine Iraq, Katrina and the other issues of the last six years, how can our current President come out looking good?
-- By fighting the good fight for the right reasons against Gore and tens of thousands of other self-loathing, America hating Democratic Americans spewing nonsense about the mission in Iraq and what's going on. As far as Katrina, how about the greatest humanitarian relief mission in American history, while dealing with an attention grabbing Democratic Louisianna Governor and a dolt of a NOLA mayor?

Gore doesn't mince his words. He calls Bush a liar and an irresponsible leader. But he backs up these assertions with a 90-minute Powerpoint presentation worth of clear-headed, reasoned and well-documented argument -- complete with hundreds of footnotes.
-- Gore knows all about lying. Check out my profile of him on the new blog I'm working on. His environmental book and movie contains more bullshit than the world's largest cattle farm. Not to mention his claim to have "created the internet" and "been the model couple for Love Story".

Divided into three parts, the book's simple structure makes it easy to follow. The opening identifies what Gore contends are the five enemies of reason -- fear, superstition, ideology, deception and intolerance.
-- How about hypocrisy, deception, intolerance, fear and superstition, Gore style?

Middle chapters examine the damage those things have caused, and the last 30 pages offer a few solutions.

And just what is that damage? Gore breaks it down into five areas:
* The squandering of international goodwill over Iraq has caused a threat to our national security, as the world now fears us instead of respects us.
-- Meanwhile, Gore is trying to scare the bejeezus out of children in the USA. I could write a whole piece on Iraq, but why bother when thousands of others have.

* Ignoring the rational arguments of scientists has weakened our environmental security, as shown by the failure to be ready for the known problems Katrina and global warming would cause.
-- No scientist without his face in the AGW trough blames Katrina on Global Warming. This was just one of dozens of lies in his other book and movie.

* Our excessive dependence on imported oil continues to weaken our energy security.
-- I guess this means that he wants to somehow find more in the Hollywood Hills and plough it up.

* Our liberty is threatened when our government uses fear and raw power -- instead of reasoned argument -- to get what it wants domestically.
-- Gore is the Fear Meister. I guess Gore would have reasoned with the Islamoloonies who flew planes into their targets on 911. And would have reasoned with Sadaam (that worked great), and with Usama.

* And finally, Gore says our general welfare is threatened when our government stops serving the interests of all its people, and instead skews its policies toward the wealthy and privileged.
-- It is to laugh. Gore IS WEALTHY AND PRIVILEGED. He hangs out with wealthy and famous people. His patron and his father's was Armand Hammer (Oxy Petro Owner - to whom the Gore's sold their soul)

As for solutions, the book offers only one: Gore in '08! OK, not really. Just wanted to see if you were still with me.
-- Darlin, I was never with ya on this. Anyone who thinks that a gigantic theme park based around a happy rat is worth a book got a problem. And doesn't know anything about anything serious.

Actually, the book closes by arguing that, now more than ever, our citizens must be well informed and must feel like they are part of the political process. It holds out hope that the internet is the key, and that television could play a part by doing things like scheduling Congressional debates in prime time. Gore also claims that we need additional campaign reform, including making contributions more transparent.
-- Stop. Think for a moment. Congressional Debates in Prime Time. Up against American Idol. Will draw big. Yup. Big. As far as transparency on campaign finance, how about Fat Albert's own brush with the law on this one.

My favorite part of the book is early on, when Gore argues that the main cause of the decline of reasoned political thought is television. He contends that when more Americans started getting their news from TV instead of newspapers, the emphasis changed from reading, an activity that by its nature activates the parts of the brain involved with reasoning, to watching, which elicits emotion but not thought. Recalling the words of Thomas Jefferson, Gore writes: "The 'well-informed citizenry' is in danger of becoming the 'well-amused audience.'"
-- I wish Gore only amused me. I can't disagree with the problems with TV - I produced a program called "The Death of Television". But maybe he doesn't have time to watch the good TV that's out there. And I suspect the first books he would put on anyone's list would be... his.

In my work, I spend many evenings at Walt Disney World, which concludes each day with a gigantic fireworks show. Called Wishes, it closes with children singing "If you keep on believing, a wish that you make will come true." I know it sounds trite, but perhaps those prerecorded kids have a point. Reading this book, I felt like I was back in my 1970s high school civics class, a time when the present had its problems, but the future seemed so bright. Maybe it can still be. If not for me, at least for my daughter.
-- If Gore keeps on believing, does that mean that he'll keep on running for President. Even after he wouldn't be able to fit through the doors of the White House.

More Big Fat Lying Liar Al Gore Lies

Here
Key Points
The title of Al Gore's latest book, The Assault on Reason, says it all. Illogicalities, non sequiturs, false analogies, fallacies, ad hominem (or rather ad Exxoninem) arguments all tumble forth in profusion from its pages.

... according to Mr. Gore, the president is intent on using the war against terror as an excuse to overturn the U.S. Constitution and set up a corporate plutocracy as part of a plot to achieve world "domination"

...Abu Ghraib, whose horrors increase with the length of the book. (On page 150, 90% of its inmates are declared to be innocent. By page 208, that figure has grown to 99%)

... democracy has been subverted by the decline of the printed word . . . and the rise of television, a "one-way" medium that is controlled by evil corporations in league with a Bush White House. ... However, a newspaper seems pretty "one-way." As does -- come to think about it -- a book. Sure, you can scribble "BS!" in the margins, but you soon run out of lead with a book like this. . . .
presumably, you would never find Al Gore getting on, say, Jon Stewart or David Letterman. And you'd never find the publishing subsidiary of a giant corporation (say, Penguin) from publishing a book by him
But what makes them really sinister is that they have the insights of professional media manipulators at their disposal. So, let's say they were to publish a book by a guy whose physique now resembles that of Orson Welles or Marlon Brando in their latter years, they'd print a much younger and slimmer picture on the dust jacket, making him look like Superman in civvies. The manipulation! But I digress ?

The most stunning -- and frightening -- aspect of Gore's bipolar book is that he constantly calls for more discussion and public input, but when it comes to his obsession, man-made climate change, he declares the debate closed.

Lemon: The Good that GW Bush Has Wrought

From Golden Lemon Award Winner Snakeoil Baron.
  • A nation that was run by a totalitarian regime, controlled by an ethnic group that was a minority in the nation (no offense to Iraqi Sunnis but no minority can rule a majority without fear and force) is now run by a multi ethnic parliament that was elected by vast participation of popular vote.
  • A government is in place in Iraq which is fighting corruption (not perfectly but progressively) and struggling to secure itself against forces which threaten it and the stability of the region rather than one which struggled to promote these forces.
  • Iraq's freedom of the press and of expression has lead to a boom in the independent media and personal communications in a nation where cell phones and Internet access was controlled (Saddam once said that the Internet was the end of civilization)
  • While corruption is widespread in Iraq it is declining where as up until the invasion it was rising rapidly.
  • Iraq's economy is improving continuously in contrast to the 30 years before the invasion.
  • The education, health, justice and banking systems and civil utilities are improving instead of declining. Children have been vaccinated, farmers are getting access to training and technologies they did not have before and access to veterinary services.
  • Drained marshes are being restored.
  • The more sectarian politicians who were elected in the first round of elections are no longer as popular and the populations in Sunni regions are turning against al Qaida.
  • All told, Iraq is one of the nations that poses the least threat to the region and to America which is a far different case than before. Iraq holds far more potential for creating diversified (not exclusively oil based) prosperity and security than Iran, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Yemen, Libya, Sudan, Pakistan or even Egypt not that she is devolving into a banana republic. It is not that there is no hope for these other nations but there must be a lot of change and hard work within them and a change of attitude toward them to get them on the most direct path to peace and prosperity.

Why do liberals have such hate?

Some of you may have clicked a link in a post a few days ago from a frequent commenter on Blogging Tories blogs from a guy named Jeff Davidson. Lemon, as CBL editor, has been always polite with Mr. Davidson in Davidson's sometimes trollish comments.

Ever since I read the post and comments on Jeff Davidson's blog, I have reviewed of other lefty blogs. Never posted or commented on any of them, but read what was there. I can not believe the hate and vitrol from commentators, directed towards PMSH or conservative bloggers in general. Who are these people? What do they do? Why are they so angry?

I have never come across a conservative blogger who has decided to spend their time going thru these non-Tory blogs and posting links and then ridiculing them for their values, beliefs, thoughts or likes and dislikes. They condemn anything and everything conservative, and ignore the broken promises, corruption, lies, lack of action on kyoto, trusts, and all the deficiencies of liberal govts or liberal mps. These libs continually mention, or brag, that over 60% of cdns did not vote for the conservatives, but conveniently forget that more than that didn't vote liberal either, in both elections with Paul Martin as leader. They seem to think that everything bad that has happened in Canada has happened since PMSH was elected. Of course they also blame Bush for all teh trouble in the world also.

How do they get away with it, must be because we don't visit their rubbish, but they sure visit the Blogging Tories. Maybe we have to start exposing them, one at a time. Go thru the comments and recognize the names. When they post on BT sites I am sure most of them are anonymous. Sort of like all the hooded terrorists out there, afraid to come out in the open, proving they are ashamed of themselves. The really scary thing about them is that they have the right to vote. Guess we should be thankful for small favors as they have no access to the PM's bathroom or they would complain on whether he does or doesn't put the seat down.

Lemon: The Star Psychoanalyzes G.W. Bush

According to The Star, W is a "paranoid megalomaniac".
They do not psychoanalyze all the conspiracy theorists, especially those celebrities who act out their psychological pathologies on a minute by minute basis.
But then again, this conclusion is made by someone whose email is feardoctor at rogers.com.
Is he for fear, or against it?

The Democratic Bobblehead Show

I've been watching the Democratic debate in Manchester, NH.
Frankly, the Miller, LeDrew, Pitfield debate was stronger.
I will state at this moment, in this place, that the Republican nominee will be the next President of the United States. . .
The gang on stage are apologetic, weak, and unattractive.
The old secret to getting elected is to have people believe that you think like they think.
There is (on a relative basis) almost no one in the USA that thinks like these people think.
George Bush could at least own Texas - none of these saps will own anyone.
Obama? Obust
Hilary? No thrillary
Joe Biden was the most impressive, and he has no chance.
Bill Richardson stated that he wants to open the borders. Do any voters want this?
It will be Giuliani or Fred Thompson. Period.

Battling MSM Propaganda is Exhausting

Just got into work, listened to Ceeb Radio en route.
"The Voice" on The Current did a "Bush to impose pressure on Iran with Allies, should make it tough on Albania" thing. Of course, this is untrue, not very funny, and trite.
But there is a steady diet of this type of manipulation of public opinion in almost all media, all the time.
The public continually sees headlines like "Focus groups reject Tory spin". (The Star this morning). Every phrase, every headline, every story, every tone is directed toward making conservatives look bad.
This is more than continual. It's massive. Overwhelming to the point of exhaustion.
Then the MSM has their other propaganda line - that they are unbiased, that they present both sides of the stories. We know this isn't true, and that they manipulate sources and angles to feature only points of view acceptable to them. Look what the Ceeb did to Michael Coren.
The MSM have massive resources, their staff are paid in real dollars. We opponents on blogs do our stuff in our spare time and might make $1.40 / month from Google Ads.
But if we didn't do this, who would.
(Can't wait to get the comments back that the MSM isn't biased...)

It's the Messenger, not the Message

I could, should I feel tired and weak, accept the message that there is a risk of (Wo)Man-Made Global Warming.
Personally, I think the real problems are water pollution and smog. These cause sickness now, and something could be done about them now.
I also think that we need to develop more sustainable energy sources (read this as nuclear).
These three areas of actions would have huge benefits to our world.
But, in a weak moment, I could buy into action that would at least theoretically reduce the risk of Global Warming.
But not when the main messengers are hypocrites and as close-minded as 15th century inquisitors.
Goldstein confirms another of Gore's ethical failings this morning. Kooky Suzuki has his own that should be known.
If someone truly acting personally on reducing their negative effect on the environment delivered the message, like, say George W. Bush, than I might even be convinced.

Evening Blue Lemons Report Newman Duff May 11

Newman - Duceppe to run, more seats for big provinces, absolutely unadulterated nothingness else except for a few digs to make the CPC look like a bunch of fascist incompetents that happen to be the government that supports the great secret neo-nazi-zionist conspiracy that is backed by the jooos to tie up everybody but themselves and tickle them until they die laughing.

Duff - Duceppe, good riddance, more seats for big provinces.
Van Loan on more seats for Big P's. Gives invite to Duff for birthday party for senate reform. Old Grit farts don't want to be fired again, years after most of them were fired by the electorate. (concept credit to Ambrose Bierce) Duff asks Van Loan when will it end, the delay of legislation, the spitting in the shoes, the pissing in the orange juice (original joke available on request). Says Big P's have 21,000 mre people per riding and rep by pop principle has been ignored, will be restored.

Newman on PQ leader race... Who cares? They will elect some doofus to lead the party who thinks he can steal more money by being leader of a small country than he can steal by being part of a big one. Revealed that Duceppe was an avid Marxist/Maoist when young. We can't have a marxist in our government can we?? (Jack Layton) I mean there's no way that we would ever elect a commie in this wealthy capitalist country? (Dawn Black). This is impossible! (Olivia Chow). Susan Bonner admits that there is someone is smarter than her. CBC first.

Duff - Harper rallying the troops. PMSH at his very best in Petawawa. TaliTubby Alexa and Ruby D. They lay huge credit and support to the soldiers. Despite the fact that they want to send soldiers to war crime trials, they entirely support them. Alexa says that PMSH crediting the soldiers is "boosterism". She says Afstan senate says we should "stop the insurgency". Alexa - ain't that what we're trying to do? Or ain't you been listening.

Duff - New no-fly list in Canada. Fantastic. I hope that smelly guy I had to sit next to en route to Vancouver is on it. Alexa says this is a terrific idea, hope they do it so then we can criticize it. Says Haroon Saddiqui is an enormously well respected journalist? Yeah sure - by Al Qaida.

Scott Reid (the honest, handsome and quiet-spoken CPC MP) on Newman along with Karen Redman on committees, which are all like dysfunctional Addam's families. Her hair totally grey - continues to eschew image consultant further to Dion dictum "we must never allow our 'air to look well or our scent to be too well, neither, or we too will be charged by media for being fancy boys and girls and not with substantive."

Does Steffi have what it takes? Duff to Linda Diebel of the Red Star. She says, yes, if a party wants to be run like the Toronto Maple Leafs. He has this in spades. She says it was Aline not Jean C that really liked him. But then again, Aline married Jean Chretien, maybe not the best judge... Why is he hated by the Liberal leadership? - from Duff. Finally looked up and noticed her hair and lips - does Diebel have an image consultant? Some work done there. Hated because he was the loser that defeated the winners who ran. She uses the Lemon line, he is "incomprehensible in English".

Scottie and Timmie on Duff - wait all week for this. Talk on leaker. Story of young anarchist by nite and archivist by day. Powers says there is an oath taken, police looking into. Duff says he looks like he wanted to be elected. Scott says it's okay to break the law. Scott drops the George Bush line, says Nixonian purge of enemies. Ever been a civil servant handcuffed by Liberals? No, of course not, they're all Liberals. Crocker Whistle Blower on Senate Liberals trying to get to Afstan. Powers says we will see. Scott admits to breaking laws, Powers denies he ever did. Chat descends into stupidity on both sides. Duff comments on how the little orphan anarchy cleaned himself up for his media conference. Duff on Iggy's 60th borrows Clinton line - "Too young to retire and too old to remember you're married."

Newman's Press Pundits - Weston says that a good chance that a lot of PQ voters will move to CPC. Newman says this is stupid and naive. Travesty says this is stupid that Quebecers are cowards and socialists so will never vote CPC when guys they've never met from Valcartier start dying in the thousands in Afstan. Delacourt not on damn shame. Bozo the Anarchist statement featured. The RCMP has become a rogue force on its own. CBC Chris Hall says CPC and RCMP are fascists. Are there any journalists in Canada that don't hate the CPC? Travesty says that a definite crime, waht's his name is now a celebrity and good for his band.

Duff's press gang. LaPierre makes surprise visit, with Galloway and Joel Denis Bellevance. So. Refer back to previous point on PQ thievery. Consensus is that condom head will have tight race. Duceppe not all that popular and will be between Marois, Lapieere surprised that he's running. JD says poll will show that he would lose. Iggy will be quoted tomorrow that we should not allow the LPOC to be taken over by environmental lobbyist. Lapierre on Dion - says a lot of work to do - 4 by elections in Quebec - and will be rough ride for him. DION WAS GIVING AWAY TICKETS TO A FUNDRAISER IN MONTREAL. Same thing happened last month in Toronto.

All in all a better than even show. Friday seems to be the best nite for the Newman Duff hour - maybe because everyone has either had, or can't wait to have, an adult cocktail. 7/10

Rambling thoughts

In the interest of seeming to be different, the Dion Liberals are appearing schizophrenic - very busy reversing positions on many laws and legislation that they put in place, in the first place. Examples include the Anti-Terrorist act, along with being a leader in the Afganistan mission and the detainee agreement.

But also, it looks like they are reversing fields on the hate they have for everything American. During the Chretien/Martin years the IN thing was to be anti-US. If the US anything it was wrong and our candy-assed liberal leaders bent over backwards to do the opposite. Iraq and Kyoto are two obvious examples.

When did things change? Because now, the Liberals are selectively choosing to look toward Americans for leadership, even encouraging their involvement. Providing it fits with their weak-kneed philosophy, of course.

They are cheering on an 85 yr old grandmother from the states who's taking on Syncrude.
They love a crtain chubby ex-president who has all the answers for Canada when he could not even get his on government to sign Kyoto.
He even voted AGAINST IT!
Good for him, because while the US pople didn't want him as President, he has Canadian Liberals who seem to love him.
I wonder how many trees have been cut down to produce Gore's book, how many tons of energy used and how much pollution produced by printing and distribution. And it is replacing the Bible in hotel rooms.
How many other Americans are loved by the Liberals and are influencing us today. Ellie May is a US citizen and personal friend of Bill Clinton. Iggy spent many years as a professor there and supported Iraq and torture.
Then there is Time magazine naming Arar one of the most influential people in the world, while George Bush is left off the list.
I wonder if we should warn supporters of SSM, to beware, the way liberals change their mind, they might change their policy on that next. And who knows, maybe they'll finally keep their promise to kill the GST. If w're ever dumb enough to elect them.

Could JFK Get Elected Today?

In the recent past the Republicans have impeached Clinton for immorality reasons and the Democrats are anxious to impeach GW Bush just for being himself. I have to wonder who in the past could possibly stand the scrutiny of the media and their desperate attempts to disrobe elected officials in public.
Let's look at JFK who is held up by at least Democrats as being a historical titan. (Although more accurately of titanic proportions).
His father was a bootlegging partner of mafia kingpin Frank Costello. His sex life was up there with Casanova's. He had a deal with hoodlum Sam Giancana to get the 1960 union vote. He slept with a woman who was a spy for the mob as well as a hollywood star who committed suicide.
What would the chances be of his getting elected today?

Evening Lemons Report Duff & Newman April 27

I know, I know - I was gonna take a Newman Duff break - but they had some new faces on - Iggy, Attaran, Pink Lloyd and Babs Mac. So I started taking notes...
What did Michael Corleone say? "Every time I try to get out, they pull me back in..."
I never said never.

Iggy says Minister O'Connor doesn't have confidence of PM. From whence does this come from?
Duffy says deal struck by Grits less than other NATO participants. Why?
Babs MacDougall and Pink Lloyd on Newman. Babs says mission breaking new ground. All agree our people acting exemplary. Lloyd says we're the exception - lies and says that NATO mission was only to provide protection. Where did this come from? Why doesn't he blame his Grits for striking this deal to escalate war if that the case?
Lloyd says we're not protecting the civilians in Kandahar - lies and says we're not leaving anyone in the villages to save the teachers.
Babs slaps Lloyd on his watch in Kosovo, he makes half assed story to justify USA's unilateral action under Clinton. (which was a good move, just like Iraq is and killing Taliban is).
On Duff - frmr Canadian Colonel Pellerin informs that only 5 of the 30 prisoners interviewed by Globe and Mail were ever in Canadian hands.
DUFF reads Al Qaida Handbook instructions to lie about torture when captured...
Iggy loving Amir Attaran on DUFFY - Spin Speaking Islamic Lover.
Amir (using typical Grit spin) says that then if they are Taliban/AlQaida and have been released, the story is even worse.
Duff says pretty rich for Liberals to complain about deal when it was their deal. Amir says he doesn't want to be partisan (like he is ANYTHING ELSE BUT PARTISAN). Makes excuses for Grits and says Bill Graham had nothing to do with deal on observing prisoners - was Hillier (ohhh - so the Liberals gave UP citizen control of the military). Says how does Pellerin know only 5, says names were not released. Says he doesn't believe it. (Maybe he's not important enough - or trusted enough - to be told.)
Regular poli-mouthpieces on Duffy-- Ablonczy says legal process on Adscam still underway. Duffy got copy of letter from Taliban Jack to get Bill C-30 brought forward this week as private members bill. In this event we will be going to the polls - mid June.
Same story on Newman - Ellie May has her Liberal scarf on - must be using THEIR image consultants and hair dresser. Refers to legally binding treaty on Kyoto - there will be penalties she says by 2008. Yeah. Like we would pay them. Newman says, Ellie May - you and Jethro are tight - are you advising Jethro to get an election?
She wants Harper replaced now! Says she not a very good election strategist (first correct thing she's said).
She wants to be in on the discussions - who the heck does she think she is? I want Doug Henning in that huddle too. She's irritating. Click.
Dosanjh says that the Grits will review options on Bill C-30 - won't dismiss. Want to shame government into action. Diane A says - this from a party who did nothing.
Danny the Dick Williams calls PMSH "Steve" six times. Doesn't want more money - wants all the money. Good. Danny eff off and separate. Not Newfoundland just you. Partition Joe Batts Arm and live there. You're sure to have a great cable signal.
Powers with buzzcut. Scott equally clean cut - like him better looking like his raccoon self. More lies from Reid about Newfie deal.
Powers on allegations in Afstan. "We're at war and an irresponsible opposition is disparaging government." Reid says Martin sent troops to organize picnics and under PMSH Canadian soldiers are dying to suck up to GW Bush.
Newman Press Panel -Russo says nobody wants election (and I agree but the level of ugly debate in the House means an enema or an election).
Red Travers says more reasons for election than last time. Says parties should get together. Yeah. Sure.
Chris Hall of CBC says that the opps could get together and force an election. He might get his wish.
Weston says Tali Jack setting trap for Liberals - private members bill could cause defeat of CPC unless Dion votes against C-30.
Ol' Duke and Miss Jane on Duff - talks about Justie Trudeau. Taber says do you really think that the Grits will let him lose the nomination? Oliver says O'Connor has lost credibility - The General has more credibility than ALL the Grit MPs combined. Says Jay Hill will become Defense Minister. If, and I say, if the General does go, then Jay would be a great choice.

Glad I tuned in - great shows tonight - just when I least expected it.

Toronto Birkenstockers and Anti-Americanism

Updated Link - Couldn't find this when I needed it.
We all know that walking among us are virulent haters of America and Americans. Evidence is presented on every thread of every possible story in The Globe.
The latest evidence of these self-loathing do-nothings I found today in Kensington Market - home to surely 80% of all Birkie wearers in Canada.
I bought some corn - looked normal to me. Was a treat obviously not being grown within 100 miles of Toronto.
Didn't think much about it until I got home and found a little sticker that said "US".
I thought why would they bother, these merchants in this little kiosk, labelling place of origin on something as necessary as food.
Then it came to me - they got tired of hundreds of people a day asking them where this piece of produce was from, wanting to make sure that they didn't spend their $1.99 to support the Bush Governments World Domination Plan.
If George Bush was going to dominate the world, wouldn't he start with Canada? Hell - half our people would shut their doors and cower under their desks per their school learning.

Clinton Responsible for 911 Intelligence Breach

There has been no shortage of reportage that the CIA knew about 911 and refused to act on it.
Almost all have found a way of pointing this responsibility at GW Bush.
Here's the latest (whole story here) allegation.
The newspaper Le Monde first reported the story today as it published excerpts of 328 pages of classified documents from France's main foreign intelligence agency, the DGSE. One note, dated Jan. 5, 2001, reported that Al Qaeda was plotting a hijacking.
I will say that this whole conspiracy theory of how someone "knew" about the events to come on the fateful day is bogus. Whether they knew is one thing, whether they had evidence to act is another.
But the beauty of this one is that it fell under Bill Clinton's reign - GWB was not sworn in until January 20, 2001.
But it's still horsefeathers. The USA receives tips on about 200,000 so-called attacks on the nation a year. To check these out would have required about 2 million dedicated intelligence officers working full time. Plus, it would have required the complete abandonment of civil rights at a time when there was no real evidence that such an event would or could occur. So why is it news?

One Person's Thoughts at Easter

I believe that George Bush is an American leader of heroic and historic proportions, battling those from outside and from within who would destroy the country that he swore to protect. Heroes don't always win, and he may not, but by keeping America's enemies in a war in the Middle East and increasing security at home he has saved the lives of countless Americans. Which is his first and most important job.

I believe that almost all Europeans and many, many Canadians and many Americans are envious of Americans and continually reveal their hatred of themselves.

I believe that Stephen Harper is the most effective and honest leader that Canada has enjoyed since Mike Harris.

I believe that my generation (born +/- 1960) was the last to have the system instill a love and commitment in the Canadian nation, its flag, its traditions and its values. I believe that younger Canadians who feel this pride and patriotism were mentored to do so by individuals.

I believe that radical Islamists are dedicated to the destruction of western values and the assimilation of western people under their control. I believe that non-radical Muslims are not making adequate effort to protest against this.

I believe that Canada would be stronger if government emphasized the commonalities of our people instead of our differences.

I believe that we Canadians do a horrible job in helping fellow Canadians who need food, housing, and self respect. I believe that the situation of Canadian aboriginals is one of the world's greatest failures of government.

I believe that Western society is far too distracted by celebrities and their vacuous opinions and is far too critical of those who strive for excellence in areas that matter.

I believe that socialism has been proven in every case to be an ineffectual and harmful political philosophy.

I belief that governments, in pursuit of the provision of equality, has created disparity, a victims class, and discouraged the pursuit of opportunity.

I believe that Jesus was born a man as the son of God, died for our sins, and was resurrected.

Gore the Green - The Truth is Out There

THIS IS HILARIOUS. ENJOY YOUR OSCAR ALBERT
USA T0day reports Here
HT to a random reader

For someone who says the sky is falling, he does very little. He says he recycles and drives a hybrid. And he claims he uses renewable energy credits to offset the pollution he produces when using a private jet to promote his film. (In reality, Paramount Classics, the film's distributor, pays this.)

Public records reveal that as Gore lectures Americans on excessive consumption, he and his wife Tipper live in two properties: a 10,000-square-foot, 20-room, eight-bathroom home in Nashville, and a 4,000-sf home in Arlington, Va. (He also has a third home in Carthage, Tenn.) For someone rallying the planet to pursue a path of extreme personal sacrifice, Gore requires little from himself.

Then there is the troubling matter of his energy use. In the Washington, D.C., area, utility companies offer wind energy as an alternative to traditional energy. In Nashville, similar programs exist. Utility customers must simply pay a few extra pennies per kilowatt hour, and they can continue living their carbon-neutral lifestyles knowing that they are supporting wind energy. Plenty of businesses and institutions have signed up. Even the Bush administration is using green energy for some federal office buildings, as are thousands of area residents.

But according to public records, there is no evidence that Gore has signed up to use green energy in either of his large residences. When contacted Wednesday, Gore's office confirmed as much but said the Gores were looking into making the switch at both homes. Talk about inconvenient truths.

Gore has held these apocalyptic views about the environment for some time. So why, then, didn't Gore dump his family's large stock holdings in Occidental (Oxy) Petroleum? As executor of his family's trust, over the years Gore has controlled hundreds of thousands of dollars in Oxy stock. Oxy has been mired in controversy over oil drilling in ecologically sensitive areas.

Living carbon-neutral apparently doesn't mean living oil-stock free. Nor does it necessarily mean giving up a mining royalty either.

Humanity might be "sitting on a ticking time bomb," but Gore's home in Carthage is sitting on a zinc mine. Gore receives $20,000 a year in royalties from Pasminco Zinc, which operates a zinc concession on his property. Tennessee has cited the company for adding large quantities of barium, iron and zinc to the nearby Caney Fork River.

Summary: The Lies of "An Inconvenient Truth"

HT to Clear Conservative Thought
Original Source: Competitive Enterprise Institute

"An Inconvenient Truth" has become the bible for those who are ardently committed to taking the civilized world back to the days of pre-industrialism. At the same time they wish to transfer the wealth of those developed countries to those parts of the globe that for whatever reason live in a time closer to Western Europe in the Stone Age, than Fifth Avernue now. Where I come from, this makes the entire exercise Marxist and not scientific.
I have translated the above referenced links into point form below.

Omissions
  • The "used to be next President" Albert Gore claims to be non-partisan in his work. This is untrue - he is a fierce opponent of the current executive branch of the USA and still has plans to run as President of the United States. This film and book is a political exercise for him to gain develop support for his personal interests.
  • The film never compares the benefits of our lifestyle to alternatives: as it is, it alleviates hunger and poverty, extends life spans and makes life enabling medicines, food and other resources to all parts of the world. A cost benefit analysis is not represented.
  • It does not consider the possible positive effects of a warmer planet and its effect upon the reduced demand for fossil fuels for heating and the huge increase in food production and resulting possible reduction in global hunger.
  • It neglects to report that deaths due to extreme weather events have declined dramatically overall in the last hundred years.
  • It apportions considerable blame to western countries on a relative basis, comparing the most modern and advanced society (at least two of which cover huge geographies) to the most agrarian and backward and often tiny nations.
  • It impugns the so-called vested interests of global warming deniers, but never deniers the special benefits of those who promote the theory - including those who seek political office.
  • It does not address the cost of implementing severe reductions in implementing a prospective emission plan such as the Kyoto Prototcol.
  • The film implied that changes in CO2 levels preceed global warming when, if anything, the opposite is true.
  • There was a bias in the scientists used to develop their consensus - sociologists were attributed equal credibility as climatologists and implied that a study that since 928 selected scientific abstracts did not deny Gore's postulation that this was evidence of the consensus.
  • It reports that 48 Nobel Prize-winning scientists accused President Bush of distorting science, without informing that the scientists were members of a political group supporting John Kerry.

Exaggerations
  • The film attributes the severity of tropical storms to global warming. There is absolutely no evidence of this.
  • They blamed devastation of the polar bear population global warming based upon the drowning of four animals. The Polar Bear population in northern Canada is increasing overall.
  • The collapse of the Larson_B Ice shelf in Antarctica is not a harbinger of doom. It was an irrelevant event considering the size of that continent.
  • The film lies about more stringent fuel economy standards in China compared to the USA (they are 5% more stringent not 30%). They do not comment on whether these standards in China will be enforced.
Speculation
  • The film attributes the 37 inch downpour of July 2005 in Mumbai to global warming even though there is no trend of such events in the area for almost fifty years.
  • It blames global warming for floods in China not advising that far more serious floods were evident over 100 years ago.
  • Global warming is blamed for the disappearance of Lake Chad which is more likely a result of increased population and consumption by humans and animals.
  • The film warns of how increase in CO2 levels will acidify and warm seawater resulting in elimination of coral reef construction. In fact these events would result in an increase in coral reef construction.
It short, AIT is no more than part of Albert Gore's presidential election campaign.

Aha - The Mount Saint Vincent Cartoon Conspiracy Revealed

Looks like pro-islamism and anti-Americanism is rampant at a Catholic university in Halifax...

Then - the Effect on Feb 8, 2006:
Saint Mary's University administrators have told philosophy professor Peter March to remove editorial caricatures depicting Islam's Prophet Muhammad from the front of his office door. March says he was making a point about freedom of expression after the infamous caricatures, originally published in a Danish newspaper, led to worldwide violence.

Today in The Star:
Prof. Reginald Stuart of Mount Saint Vincent University said Rice’s visit signifies the closer ties that Prime Minister Stephen Harper has fostered with the U.S. administration of President George W. Bush.

From CTV website on Feb 2, 2006
Randi Warne, a religious studies professor at Mount Saint Vincent University in Halifax, said non-Muslims should try to empathize with the outrage Muslims feel.
"I think we should ask ourselves how people would feel in the West if pictures of Jesus were being drawn this way, committing heinous acts or in compromising positions," she told CTV Atlantic.
"I'm quite sure that there would be outrage all around the world."

Imagine if GW Bush Did This...

Former U.S. president Bill Clinton warned Canada last night not to go down an American-style, privatized health-care road.
