Evening Lemons Report Duff June 29

Duff on Day of Action, Newfie Separation
HQ of Shawn Brant - Are Rosemary Thompson of CTV and Rosemary Barton of CBC the same person? Both in Deseronto and both wearing red. So confusing that the dude on CBC Newsworld early referred to his own CBC reporter as Rosemary Thompson. Ooops.
Question as they air film of 'warriors' in camo and face masks. If they have all that surplus energy to push buses across tracks and pull trees down, why can't they get up the energy to go to college and get a job?
No one in the media refers to Brant et al as terrorists. I guess this proves terrorism works.
Duff still wants to give credit to Fontaine - who wants more education funding when no indian has ever had to pay for a university education in Canada and no white person has ever had his or hers fully paid for by the FedGov.

Long media conference with the real hero for Canadian aboriginals, Jim Prentice. He still not to get any credit.

Duff with Shawn Brant - Duff knows where this fugitive is, why doesn't the OPP?
Doesn't mention that Brant has absolutely no official role within the First Nations nor his local band. He is an outlaw terrorist from the USA. He should be in jail. He says he ready to go, are the OPP ready to take him?

Duff speaks to more Indian representatives who speak for no one but themselves. The U of T prof calls for more healing circles and smoking of sweetgrass. The TV star appreciates being on TV again. So far the panel is kinda like the Gilligan's Island crew - The Professor, the TV star and all the rest.
Hooray - Patrick Brazault from Aboriginal Peoples Congress - whatever that is - calls for end of the Indian Act... FINALLY an indian wants to get rid of this patronizing and racist legislation.
I get it - three apples (who Duff calls role models) speak for the poor people in northern communities.

Big Julie speaks over pictures of masked "warriors" burning tires - where's David Suzuki - I thought he loved the native savage, live clean on the land sorta thing?

Duff shows Layton and Dion - says he can't deliver Kelowna Accord until he's PM. Fact is he sure could...

Helena Gorgeous, Alexa McDuhna and Ruby Dulla. The Pin Ups.
Duff says that the Grits carry the blame and Dion is stretching when he says that it's CPC fault. Dulla blames the CPC in response to Duff's comment that it's Grit fault. She has some great points on the things that the Grits never did. Duff responds that Grits are sanctimonious in trying to lay blame on anyone else. Go Duff Go (although Newman woulda been more vicious).
Helena Gorgeous blows up Ruby real good.

Can't wait for Duff to deal with Newfie separation - as far as I'm concerned, they can leave tomorrow. I'll just buy my fish somewhere else. Oh. What's that? They don't have any fish?? Oh, well I'll just buy my oil somewhere else. What's that? They're almost out of oil?? Darn.

Timmy and Scottie - last chance for a naked oil wrestling match.
On Jeff Simpson, the reserves are too small to survive. Newfie at MUN wants to separate, Cape Breton wants to separate.
Scott goes on about dignity - what the hell would Scott Reid know about dignity?
Scott goes to the Kelowna thing, Tim slaps him with the "you guys put no money in it and let the aboriginals down."

Tha tha tha tha that's all folks for another political season.
Nice way to finish... Indians on the warpath, Newfies and Cape Bretoners on the separation path, and Dion in the wiener line at a BBQ near you.

Today, out of sheer kindness, since it's the end of the season and to do my part to help reconcile the divide between us and the Indians - 6/10

Lemon: Fontaine Futile Leader

Yesterday we posted on Duffy wrongly giving credit to head of the First Nations, Phil Fontaine, for progress in Native land claims.
We described Fontaine as a Liberal toady who had done nothing to improve the plight of Canadian aboriginals during his time in office except he happens to be in office at this time.
He did establish today's "Day of Action" and today the 401 and the Via / CN Rail line is shut down by the OPP and native terrorists. Fontaine said that he wanted the protests to be peaceful.
Meanwhile, criminal fugitive Shawn Brant announces that his band of terrorists have guns and know how to use them. It seems that he is prepared to be a martyr for his violent cause.

Will Fontaine be a martyr for his peaceful cause?
Will he go to the barricades and demand that Brant and his terrorists surrender their arms, and move off the public travel ways?
Will he confront this criminal and put his life on the line to defend his cause?
Of course not, he's just another well-paid indian bureaucrat who likes the perqs but not the responsibilities.

Lemon: OPP Does Indian Terrorist Job For Them

Feel less inconvenienced because the OPP is blocking the 401 instead of the Indian Terrorists?

Evening Blue Lemons Report Abbreviated June 28

I started to live blog Duff this evening, but gave up when I saw there was nothing to write about.
Duff's ongoing terms of reference was to credit Phil Fontaine for the progress in land claims settlements.
Jim Prentice, he did not mention.
Phil Fontaine has been a toady of the Liberals since he succeeded the coon cums and starblankets of the past.
He just happened to be in the job at the time.
No progress during his long reign was seen until the CPC assumed government and they got a Minister of IANA that knew what he was doing.
Thanks to Brian Laghi for confirming that it was Jim Prentice to thank for this, not Phil Fontaine.

I thought it fascinating that Martha Hall Findlay was anxious to bring Paul Martin's Indian solution, just pay them off three days before an election call, was the answer. She is a true Liberal, brown to the core.

My CBL colleagues today dealt well with this issue today:
Here
Here
and I did one a while back, here.

Evening Lemons Report Duff June 26

Duff says today soup to nuts.
Scottie Reid and Alex McDuhna must be on at the end.

Duff does cover Comuzzi joining the CPC. PMSH slams Dion's obsession with Environment at expense of economy.
Joe C - Duff says long line of Grits who have joined Tories. Joe says that PMSH right - broad base and wide appeal of CPC very important. Joe says was no deal.
Joe says Dion lied about this.
Duff asks why were some Grits allowed to stay who voted for the budget but you were kicked out. Joe says he hadn't even voted when he got kicked out - Dion never returned his calls. Duff says many Grit MPs say that Dion has moved party too far to the left - are there others that are going to defect? Joe says big movement of Grit supporters in Thunder Bay to CPC.

House Leaders: Peter Van Loan, Geoff Regan, Mumu Davies - Regan says growth in support for Steffi. NDPer once again has shorts in knots because other two parties can get people to cross floor but never once has anyone crossed the floor to the pathetic group that are the NDP. Even the Green's got Dion support.
Is there a realignment on philosophy by MPs - PVL says this is natural as CPC becomes national governing party. Says division continues in Grits - Iggy vs Dion, Kennedy Supporters vs Dion, Duff says that Regan always smiles every time Iggy stands up. Mumu Davies says NDP the strongest opposition party. Bullfeathers. They never need to be accountable for anything they say - get to be eternal poseurs. Says Bev Desjarlais was never booted out of caucus (bullfeathers redux). Van Loan is much better on camera than stuck in a chair next to Ralphie Hedgehog.

Pauline Marois proclaimed as head of the PQ. Regan gives commercial that separatists are dead - forgets to mention that PMSH is responsible for this. Van Loan reminds everyone.

CPC MPs telling friends that three CN lines will be shut down between Toronto and Ottawa/Montreal. Duff interviews Shawn Brant - the terrorist American maybe-Indian Mohawk (remember Ward Churchill). Won't leave home because police looking for him. Likely also slowing down highway. Can't wait til Shawn stands in front of a tired Semi driver trying to hand out a leaflet. Video show his warriors preparing weapons of war.
He wants uncompromprised and unconditional support. Also shows fights between indians and pale faces. And he wants mutual support? I support throwing his sorry ass in jail and I bet so will every other person who gets inconvenienced. Pathetic.
Head of Cdn Railway Association - How do RRs respond? Says only a localized incident - how is shutting down this RR line a localized incident?? Cares less about his passengers & customers than about the terrorist indians who want to shut down his railroad.

McGrath, McKinnon and Benoit. Roxie says Minister Prentice working very hard cleaning up Grit DIANA disaster. When I was in NWT everyone kept talking about Diana. Diana this, Diana that. Finally figured out it was Dept of Indian and Northern Affairs.

Fife and Weston - Says everybody hoping for a peaceful protest - suurrre. Thats why Duff is promising full media coverage. Both say hotheads could burn themslves if they screw this up.
Okay show - only about 1/2 was mindless chatter, which is better than usual. Give Duff 5/10.

Lemon: The Grit Messes PMSH is Blamed For

The Liberal Party is like a rat - very difficult to corner and most dangerous when it has been so trapped.
The CPC has been the governing party now for 17 months. It came in with a very short list of platform priorities but since these were accomplished, has been forced to face the wrath of the Opposition, it's pet puppy media and various marxist imps, not for it's own mistakes and flubs, but
for those of the previous governing Liberals!

Here's a list of links that describe these:

Kyoto: A post at the Phantom today describes how the Liberal (and current Dion) plan would have been much more harmful for the environment than that of the CPC

Afstan Detainees - Damian Penny in May: Former prime minister Paul Martin gave approval almost two years ago to then-defence minister Bill Graham to negotiate a detainee transfer agreement with the Afghanistan government, according to government documents obtained by CanWest News Service.

Income Trusts - This had to be done, but the Liberals were too chicken to do it. Even "The Garth" supported Flaherty's action.

Native Land Claims - holdup on settling land claims is a product of the former Liberal government

Atlantic Accord - Martin Did it, and Dion Denied it.

RCMP Corruption - The cozy relationship between the RCMP and the Grits was reported here.

Evening Lemons Report Bonner Duff June 5 - Casey Votes NO!!

Fire Casey's Butt - NOW!!!!

Duff: Calls his show a Broadcast . . .
Bill Casey says he has no choice. Will he get the boot? PMSH in Paris on Kyoto and Afstan. GWB trying to chill Putin's new cold war. G8 Preview, etc.
Bonner: Bill Casey - vote is in 45 minutes. Issue is Atlantic Accord. Won't spend much time with Bonner. Not up to the challenge.
Duff - Bill Casey is reading a "contract" in debate with Van Loan. There is a simple solution to this - call the NSers bluff, withdraw the other deal - Heap insults on Paul Martin for doing such a stupid deal and how it was a stab in the back of Ontario / Quebec / Alberta / BC and how Nova Scotia and NFLD will be driving BMWs while Ontarians and Quebecers will be riding in wagons. Give up on winning any more seats on the East Coast - there aren't enough to matter anyway.
PVL explains how if the NSers vote to defeat bill, then huge benefits will be withdrawn.
Ralphie Hedgehog says it breaks promises - bad outweighs the good - does this mean the Grits will vote against it? Ralph admits that tradition would call for Casey to get canned. All of a sudden Bill Casey is a very respected and thoughtful MP according to Libby. Did she say the same think a week ago??
Can His Ass if he votes against it!!! He can run as an NDPer next time.
PVL explains they have an option - they can stay with the old arrangement and give up the new money. Up to them - there's the answer. Take it OFF THE TABLE. And MAKE SURE the productive provinces know that the Grits did a stupid deal and that THEY have to pay for it. Duff says NDP surging in NS - Maritimers (I'm one by the way) never look after their own interests. NDP... Puhleeze.
Fixident, Reverse Mortgages, Comfy Bathtubs - wow - do these shows ever know how to target their audiences: grumpy old farts. I'm more of a grumpy not-old-yet fart.
PMSH on climate change and Afstan with French PM. Generally on the same page.
Sarkozy is a shrimp!!! Gotta be worried about short French leaders . . . Remember Napoleon - he actually wasn't that short - about 5'7". And look what he did. Be afraid. Be very afraid.
Babs MacDougall doesn't think Putin wants to disrupt the G-8 - needs the other 7.
Phil Fontaine sans pony tail - fast track on land claims. He's optimistic. Hard to believe that Phil has become the voice of reason in the aboriginal community. Let's see if Mike asks about the Day of Action... He does - Phil says position is clear - never advocates breaking the law. Wants to reach out to Canadians.
The bells are ringing - Bill Casey to get his moment of fame.
Bonner - Grit Senators still trying to kill 8 year term limits. Blames provinces - Sen Oliver says this is horse manure. Provinces have no right to be consulted. Port Elgin's John Bryden hangs on to the blaming the provinces right to approve amending formula for Senate. Trudeau gave them a gift that keeps giving. Bryden wants a reference to the SCOC - means all the siting Grit Senators will have another 5 or 6 years.
Sorry - was having a snack.
Ian MacDonald & Greg Weston - hangover from the Martin Open Bar Yard Sale deals with provinces. That's the only way that this whole thing can be sold - that Martin sold out Ontario, QC, Alberta and BC for a few seats in the Maritimes. Macdonald says Dion is Dead, Dead, Dead in Quebec - 12% - 6 months after getting elected. Most Canadians can't picture Dion as a PM.
That's it - I kinda took a little break in the middle but don't think I missed anything meaningful.
Kinda peed off that Paula Todd always gets the last five minutes.
Overall, a decent hour of pathetic bafflegab. 5/10
Note - Voting for Budget Implementation Act...
Casey VOTES AGAINST Amendments to C-52
Grits voted against, PQ for. NDP weren't sure what they were voting for or against and teh Greens don't get to vote.

The Saigon Sopranos? Update

When I heard the CasinoRama story, and being the cynic I am, especially when it comes to Indian Reserves and Money I wondered if there was any possible connection, particularly since we've heard in the past about cigarette, booze and gun smuggling.

"Targeted 18 casinos from Washington to Connecticut, 10 of them owned by Indian tribes. The Emerald Queen Casino owned and operated by the Puyallup Tribe of Indians and the Nooksack River Casino in Whatcom County were among them."

Looks though, that it was an organized Vietnamese group.

It was a tough day for Vietnamese Gangstas everywhere.

Evening Blue Lemons Report Newman Duff May 16

The Brawdcast - Clean Air Act - NDP motion will not get debated until Friday - Libby is pissy about this - says Pete Van Loan is mean spirited and CPC are bullies. PVL says NDP missed chance last Friday. Libby tries to shout over Newman - bad move. Libby wasn't told that opposition day had changed. Click.
Duff - Grit MP said CPC MP crossed floor to pound him into putty, Ban on Foreigner Peelers
Phil Fontaine says a summer of unrest unless we fold and give them all our cash. Senate thinks this is a great idea providing none of the cash is their's. Let's start a new bureaucracy to manage (perhaps staffed with Senators who have served their 8 years?) Neville (LPOC) and Crowder (NDP) - says problem in Native community is delays in Land Claims and lack of hope. Some people - including many FN people - work and study to create hope.
Minister Prentice - needs to reform system. 60 years of discussion on Senate idea to have new bureaucracy.
Duff shocked that FN people can't use Human Rights Act. CPC wants to change this - Opps will not allow this to pass - undermined by their "leaders" who want to keep "their people" under their thumb. The Indian Poverty Pimps at work.
Newman - Bill delay on Kyoto Targets - Sen Tkachuk says Grits rushed through bill in an abusive way. Grits says Tories held it up.
So far tonight is deserving to be place on the do not watch list. Boooorrrring. Where is the Foreign Peelers debate?
Julie the Red on Campaign Life using GOC logo. Newman's Bobblehead panel. Nothing issue. Nothing worth commenting on.
Duff with
Dom Leblanc, Jason K and Bill Siksay on dust-up in HOC - D.McGuinty and Royal Galipeau Orleans CPC member believed he was insulted for his race by McGeewhiz.
STRIPPERS!!! No more import of same. Suggested by NDP that senators booted out after 8 years apply for the openings.
Paul Dewar on Ottawa Senators - never knew the NDP were big on competition - thought that they always figured this was bad and all people should be entitled to share the Stanley Cup.
Even the Stripper story can't save this night's shows. The Alpaca commercial is way more stimulating. ALPACA stands for Allied Liberal Protesters Against Conservative Achievement.
Air India on Newman - turns out Air India were too cheap to pay the tab. How are we at fault for this?
Duff - Brad, Moors, Jaro all hope the Senators win. NDP hurt by change of Opp day. Ndpers angry cause means they have to work on Friday. Threaten to go on strike and put up pickets.
This program is depressing me. Looking for needles to stick in my eyes.
Duff smacks Moors for holding up Human Rights for Indians. Moors argues back. Never responds.
Lessard and Travesty on Newman.
Official Languages - Lessard says nothing happening on Committee so they act like kids. Downhill since Shane Doan - Grits and Dippers went too far. Newman says problem due to lack of experience by Tories.
Fife on Duff - Harper is right on rights for FN. Fife says leaders won't take responsibility - refuse audits, fair elections, against equal rights for women. Native leaders have to carry the can. Duff calls the FN Pimps "the Aeroplan Class". McCharles on Stock's security measures - needs to deport terror suspects.
If you PVRed the shows, erase. Do not bother reading this piece. Please.
This was the worst night ever. The first goose egg since I started doing this. 0/10

Evening Lemons Report Duff & Newman April 24

Duff - Akin in for Duff - (Is he Mett as in Mett & Juff??)
Everybody's beating up PMSH in order to support the Al Qaida strategy to lie to journalists about being tortured when captured.
Newman announces that NDP to vote against Grit Feb 2009 surrender date. The NDP want us to surrender now.
Opps want to cancel the transfer of Taliban murderers to Afghan officials. I suggest they transfer them back here in care of the Member from Toronto Danforth. They'd fit in great there - despise western civilization and can get lamb and goat on the grill.
CBC quotes mysterious unknown "critics" about alleged "torture in Afstan". Could they be Stephen Staples and other Marxists? Members of the Grit caucus that are friendly to the Taliban? Guys who want to get let out of jail to behead a few more before they meet Allah? Usama Bin Laden's PR director?
Akin argues with Russ Heibert that Mom and Dad back in Canada are worried about getting sued by Taliban for getting tortured. He argues absolute lunacy!!! Never, ever let him have your job again, Duff. There is no effin way this could happen. The NDP and Grits are betraying our people and giving their support to lying rapists and murderers. Alexa Mc-Doh-na is so washed in NDP claptrap that I can lipsync her.
There ARE no NDP supporters in Afstan with the troops cause the NDP supporters are too cowardly or just don't have any belief system that they would ever risk their tie-dyes on.
Mc-Do-Nut says that WE ARE LOSING WAR!! She is losing her sanity.
iNDeepers are useless, incompetent, cowardly and lazy. There. That's my piece on them. Even the unions don't buy into their bullshit anymore.
Libby Davies, with a jacket designed by Omar the Tentmaker instead of a mumu. Van Loan (also a jacket no mumu) calls the Senate Wonderbra - it holds up legislation.
Akin feels it necessary to explain the Clean Air act and its left wing children mothered by the Grits and NDP.
Brit Minister of State says "Canada's reputation has never stood so high." Calls teh Taliban Philistines, murderers, rapists, parasites. And Steffi Dion wants to invite them over for brunch.
Newman says the cowardly nations won't stand up to fill in when we leave - my idea: let's get them to pick up the tab - say a billion a week to keep us there.
Akin is a waste - he wants to be interviewer and interviewee and the news itself. With Prentice on Marauding Mohawks - Minister directs charge of causing blockades to local shit disturber (Brant?) who is a convicted criminal. Local Band council opposed the blockade. Akin talks way too much. WHERE'S Duff - oh - off on some fundraiser doing some good. But Duff - WHAT about me!!!
Yippee get Parakeet Poulin up next on Duff. My pulse is racing. I click 26.
Back to Newman - voting in the House - Fixed Election Date - Government is gonna reject amended act. New Chief Electoral Officer on (first time) - he'd like fixed dates. Question is - what does he think about Burkhas? Newman describes all the iterations and confusing things the guy is facing. He looks like he wants to quit.
Was on Duff for 30 seconds - Poulin started chirping - had to switch back. Wait - McGrath comments that regardless of how many pets Dion wants to name Kyoto - his record still sucks. And doesn't Steffi even look like a doofus in the ad during what is supposed to be his greatest moment???
Akin brings up defense minister. Poulin "chirp, chirp, chirp" -- is really bothersome. Commie McGrath says that Defence Minister is a liability - this from the guys who want us to surrender and come home to pass out food rations to NDP supporters. Akin craps on Minister O'Connor. Poulin chirps again. Akin blames PMSH for causing loud debate int he House. He is an ass. I will
go wash my face in soiled diapers before I ever blog Duffy again with him on as host. Okay, single square of toilet paper.
Anderson and LeDrew on Newman - Tories gonna vote with Bloc on their motion on Kyoto, NDP with CPC for more war, people wearing brown belts and black shoes - it's insane up there!!!
Looks like Grit motion on Afstan will fail. Anderson says it completes the Grit pirouette. They're for the war, against the war, for the war. Like a Bette Davis movie - I hate you, no I love you, no I hate you, no I love you. Picture Steffi as Charles Boyer.
Anderson wondering wtf NDP are doing on 2009? So was Newman. So are they. Anderson says Greens gonna go to dinner on NDP's messed up position on 2009 surrender.
Bloc Kyoto movement passes unanimously.
Liberal motion on 2009 surrender is defeated 151-134.
Weston says the good thing is that the vote will confuse the Taliban. Weston says not sure if Grit ad an attack ad or a CPC spoof. Anderson explains that 2009 vote will help CPC in putting their position to the public and the NATO foreign minister's meeting in Ottawa this weekend.
Akin tries to compare PMSH political strength with that of Jethro Dion. Puhleeze.
Akin is akin to ...... Well, okay Akin is not akin to a good political moderator. One thing about the old farts is that they know everything is tongue in cheek and a little fun. Akin ain't there yet and may never be.
But, that being said, this was a steady hour of bloggin' with no real dead air. So it gets a solid 7/10.

A Shining Star in the First Nations' Firmament

This is leadership from November 24, 2004
Martin (certainly not Paul) comes to mind.
Why isn't Manny Jules leading an Aboriginal renewal like Martin Luther King did?
Is his star being hidden behind the cloudy skies of First Nations politics and Government of Canada fear?
I hope that in 10 years' time there is an option other than the Indian Act, that it has been replaced with First Nations-led legislation.
I hope that in 10 years there is no need for the Department of Indian Affairs and Northern Development, that it has been replaced by First Nations institutions.
I hope that we are full participants in the Canadian economy, and our children have the same opportunities as other Canadian children.
I hope that we are no longer considered a social problem that costs all governments an extra $3.5 billion, and costs the economy $5 billion in lost productivity.
I hope we are part of the solution to rising health care costs.
I hope we can replace the lost productivity of an aging population.
I hope we can generate enough revenues from our economies to pay for our services.
I hope my children do not go cap in hand to another government for clean water, safe roads and good schools.

Mac-Comments on Canadian "Entitlements" and Social Failures

Posted in Comments from here by Mac
Wanted to bring this on top of my blog - Mac makes some great points.
One of your points no-one else touched upon is your thoughts regarding how Canadians do a horrible job in helping fellow Canadians, specifically the situation of Canadian aboriginals.
These are fundamental problems and therefore the solutions must be just as fundamental. Perspective is everything.
Canadians live in one of the richest countries in the world yet we have cases of what appears to be extreme poverty which defy resolution. If throwing money at the problem was going to fix it, it would have been fixed decades ago since that's the usual Liberal solution.
Justice Gomery's words describing the "culture of entitlement" was aimed at the Liberal Party but that same expression resonates through Canadian society. We're all entitled to... what? A chicken in every pot? A big-screen tv in every livingroom? Everything?
The average Canadian lives in pure luxury compared to the rest of the world. Our "poor" aren't truly poor because they have access to food, shelter, clothes and all the necessities to sustain life. We are lucky.
Yes, even the poorest need not starve in Canada but the poverty pimps aren't satisfied with that... and they will never be satisfied. They have no reason to be satisfied since it is their goal to bring about complete wealth redistribution and socialism and that hasn't happened yet.
The fundamental solution is to change how we look at welfare from being an entitlement to being a temporary solution. Which is more heartless: to allow someone to slowly destroy their self worth by supplying their every need without any impetus for self improvement or to support someone with the goal in mind of enabling them to be self-supporting? Lack of effort at self improvement results in reduction of entitlement; effort is rewarded.
Personally, I would love to see governments get out of the welfare game because they're lousy at service delivery for a variety of reasons. We would be much better off if welfare services were provided by private charities without the burden of unions and bureaucracies.
Native poverty is the most vexing problem because it's roots run deep, back to before Canada was an independent nation. Numerous solutions have been tried and all are found wanting. The main reason for this failure, in my humble opinion, is the paternalistic and condescending attitude of the government(s) in their dealings with natives. As soon as we stop trying to run their lives, they will start trying.
The native land reservation is the classic example. Natives do not have the right to self determination unless they leave the reservations. Why? The land "reserved for them is not their own. It is held in trust by the government. Native cannot sell their land. They cannot use their land to leverage a loan or even mortgage a home.
The government needs to do away with the reservation system or at least place the title of the land back into the hands of the native bands. There is no dignity in living on someone else's land or dime. Instead of renegotiating land claims, we should be putting an end to this oppressive system.
One of the main reasons for staying on the reservations is the monetary advantages. Like welfare, all needs are met. Look at the results and cringe.
