A Reprise of Al Gore's Lies - The Biggest Fattest Liar in History?
So we are prepared to sacrifice our economy on the basis of the efforts of this man to be famous?

"I took the initiative of creating the internet."
From Here
Howard Glicken, a long-time fundraiser for Al Gore, is awaiting sentencing on his negotiated plea bargain for illegal fund raising. He raised $2 million for Clinton-Gore and the DNC in 1996, and owns 2 Jaguars with the vanity plates "Gore1" and "Gore2."
Haney was a generous donor. He was indicted in November 1998 for 42 counts of illegal campaign contributions to the Clinton-Gore campaign between 1992 and late 1995.
Gore claimed to have uncovered the most famous toxic waste site in the country. As a young congressman in the late 1970s, he said, "I found a little place in upstate New York called Love Canal."
And even more here:
"I helped to negotiate an agreement with the Internet service providers to put a parent protection page up and give parents the ability to click on all of the web sites that their children have visited lately. That’ll put a lot of bargaining leverage in the hands of parents."
**** "There was no Gore involvement. They hijacked this issue. He makes it sound like he led the project. I can’t imagine what he will invent tomorrow."
"I was the author of that proposal. I wrote that....That is something for which I have been the principal proponent for a long time." Al Gore in a Time Interview, on the EARNED INCOME TAX CREDIT (EITC).
**** the EITC became law in 1975, a year BEFORE Gore was elected to Congress.
When Gore ran for the Senate in 1984, one TV ad proclaimed, "He wrote the bipartisan plan on arms control that US negotiators will take to the Russians."
**** "That is a vast overstatement. He had nothing to do with what we proposed to the Soviets," Kenneth Adelman, who was the director of the US Arms Control and Disarmament Agency, said in an interview. Adelman's view is supported by the two biographies, and by contemporaneous news accounts.
Several times during the debate (1999 in NH with Bradley), Gore insisted that he has always supported both a woman's right to choose an abortion and Roe v. Wade, the 1973 Supreme Court decision that ensured that right.
**** "It is my deep personal conviction that abortion is wrong. I hope that some day we will see the current outrageously large number of abortions drop sharply. Let me assure you that I share your belief that innocent human life must be protected.
Gore called Homosexuality "abnormal" and "wrong" and in the October 28, 1984, Tennessean he was quoted "I do not believe it is simply an acceptable alternative that society should affirm...."
**** Homesexuals (and Hollywood) either do not know this, or choose to ignore it.
"Around midnight, after a three-city tour of Texas last month, the Vice President came wandering back to the press compartment of Air Force Two. Erich Segal, Gore said, used Al and Tipper as models for the uptight preppy and his free-spirited girlfriend in Love Story in the movie version of Segal's book."
**** "The author, Erich Segal, told The New York Times he was 'befuddled' by the comments in the first place. Gore said that he was misunderstood."
"And I was shot at.... I spent most of my time in the field. I carried an M-16... I pulled my turn on the perimeter at night and walked through the elephant grass, and I was fired upon."
**** Gore Had Bodyguards Assigned to Keep Him Out of Harm’s Way in Vietnam. "In Vietnam, Alan Leo, a photographer in the press brigade office where Gore worked as a reporter, said he was summoned by Brig. Gen. K.B. Cooper asked Leo, the most experienced member of the press unit, to make sure that nothing happened to Gore. ‘He requested that "Gore not get into situations that were dangerous,’" said Leo, who did what he could to carry out Cooper’s directive. He described his half-dozen or so trips into the field with Gore as situations where ‘I could have worn a tuxedo.’"
While in the Army, Al Gore wrote his parents that the U.S. Army was a "Fascist organization."
**** Gore got out of Vietnam after 4 1/2 months of a twelve month tour of duty and out of the Army early on the excuse he was going to go to Divinity School. In a couple months he flunked out but did not return to fulfill his Army obligations.
Campaigning in Iowa, Gore overstated his farming background. He claimed that he slopped hogs, drove mules, built homes and cleared land by hand with a double bladed ax. "I learned how to plow a steep hillside with mules, hose out the hog waste and take up hay all day long in the hot sun."
**** Of course this was in Washington, DC, where he lived almost his entire life.
Gore also claimed to have attended school in rural Tennessee as well in urban Washington, DC. In fact, he attended a private school St. Albins.
He has claimed to have been a "great student" but in fact, was a poor 25th out of 51 in high school receiving predominately C's. He had average SAT scores.
The political champion of the natural world received a D in Natural Sciences 6 (Man's Place in Nature) and then got a C-plus in Natural Sciences in his senior year at Harvard.
Al Gore actually flunked out of grad school at Vanderbilt University's College of Divinity. Gore biographer Bill Turque revealed: "Of the eight classes [Gore] took over three semesters, according to his Vanderbilt transcript, five ended in F's or incompletes that lapsed into F's." Shortly thereafter, Gore bailed out of divinity school and enrolled in Vanderbilt's College of Law, where he also dropped out after earning only mediocre grades.

The Gore Solution to Kyoto Challenge
LinkCanada is a lot like Al Gore.
"Canada faces far greater obstacles in reaching its Kyoto Protocol commitments than the public has been told because its targets are much more stringent than commonly understood, according to experts on the treaty."
We're the biggest country in the world, he is very close to the fattest politician in the world.
We have great aspirations (so far unachieved) and so does he.
We are huge consumers of energy and so is Al Gore.
We are also big "carbon emitters" and so is Albert Gore with his $30,000 power bill, daily flights, fleet of SUVs, etc.
Al Gore's solution was to start a "Carbon Credits" company to offset the incredible level of effluent he spews. Despite the fact that his company does not in the slightest do anything to offset Al's consumption, someone, somewhere, somehow has determined that it qualifies to relieve him of guilt (or at least as acceptable indulgences).
Well, why doen't Canada start it's own Carbon offsets company with exactly the same criteria as Al Gore applies to his. Every tree that is planted (I know that it has been decided to not do this but let's do it anyway - Al would), every time that any person in Canada promises to ever do anything good for the environment, every penny spent on anything associated with the environment would somehow be quantified, monetized and run through the "Clean Canadian Carbons Program" (CCCP).
If it's good enough for Al Gore, surely it should be good enough for a do-gooding country like Canada.

Gore Scandal on Carbon Offsets
I wonder how the MSM and Gore Defenders will deal with this?????
Dust my Broom and PomoChristian first alerted me to this link.
THIS IS HUGE...
Al Gore has been strongly criticized for using more energy in his homes in one month than an average family does in a year. He also has been strongly criticized for the amount of energy used and greenhouse gases spewed by his vehicles and private jets. (In a previous post we compared this to the selling of indulgences).
Gore's has been defended by his acolytes by his initiative to purchase "carbon offsets" to compensate for his home's use of energy from carbon-based fuels. These are provided by third party companies as a service that tries to reduce the net carbon emissions of individuals or organizations indirectly, through proxies who reduce their emissions and/or increase their absorption of greenhouse gases."
According to a report in The Tennesseean Gore buys his carbon offsets through Generation Investment Management.
The Chairman of Generation Investment Management is Al Gore. Others have reported how in essence, Al Gore is therefore buying Carbon Offsets from himself.
However, the other big story is that is that GIM is not in the Carbon Credits Business!!
Al Gore's Carbon Offsets are being invested in banks, manufacturers (even a few polluters in the bunch). His GIM is purely an investment company that owns shares in the following companies (not a green company in the bunch and none that plant trees or develop windpower sites).

A Fisk of a Review of The Latest Gore Book of Bullshit
The event we've all been waiting for has occurred. Al Gore has released his new book "The Assault on Reason" which gives us all a chance to reasonably tear it to shreds. Yippee.
This review is on Amazon.com and was written by the author of The Complete Guide to Walt Disney World. How apt.
I can't post this on Amazon cause I would need to buy a book, which I ain't about to do.
Here's a radical idea: Americans can govern themselves best by having clear-headed, reasoned public discussions on the important topics of the day. A thought from Thomas Paine? Your high school civics teacher? No, Al Gore. That's the theme of this clear-headed, reasoned, and yes, even passionate argument on what's wrong with our country and how we can fix it.
-- I'd rather trust in a high school civics teacher than that ballooned blowhard. But maybe that's just me.
Yes, it bashes Bush, but how can it not? It's impossible to argue against the chatterbox shrillness of today's public debate without mentioning the subjects being debated. And if you're going to seriously examine Iraq, Katrina and the other issues of the last six years, how can our current President come out looking good?
-- By fighting the good fight for the right reasons against Gore and tens of thousands of other self-loathing, America hating Democratic Americans spewing nonsense about the mission in Iraq and what's going on. As far as Katrina, how about the greatest humanitarian relief mission in American history, while dealing with an attention grabbing Democratic Louisianna Governor and a dolt of a NOLA mayor?
Gore doesn't mince his words. He calls Bush a liar and an irresponsible leader. But he backs up these assertions with a 90-minute Powerpoint presentation worth of clear-headed, reasoned and well-documented argument -- complete with hundreds of footnotes.
-- Gore knows all about lying. Check out my profile of him on the new blog I'm working on. His environmental book and movie contains more bullshit than the world's largest cattle farm. Not to mention his claim to have "created the internet" and "been the model couple for Love Story".
Divided into three parts, the book's simple structure makes it easy to follow. The opening identifies what Gore contends are the five enemies of reason -- fear, superstition, ideology, deception and intolerance.
-- How about hypocrisy, deception, intolerance, fear and superstition, Gore style?
Middle chapters examine the damage those things have caused, and the last 30 pages offer a few solutions.
And just what is that damage? Gore breaks it down into five areas:
* The squandering of international goodwill over Iraq has caused a threat to our national security, as the world now fears us instead of respects us.
-- Meanwhile, Gore is trying to scare the bejeezus out of children in the USA. I could write a whole piece on Iraq, but why bother when thousands of others have.
* Ignoring the rational arguments of scientists has weakened our environmental security, as shown by the failure to be ready for the known problems Katrina and global warming would cause.
-- No scientist without his face in the AGW trough blames Katrina on Global Warming. This was just one of dozens of lies in his other book and movie.
* Our excessive dependence on imported oil continues to weaken our energy security.
-- I guess this means that he wants to somehow find more in the Hollywood Hills and plough it up.
* Our liberty is threatened when our government uses fear and raw power -- instead of reasoned argument -- to get what it wants domestically.
-- Gore is the Fear Meister. I guess Gore would have reasoned with the Islamoloonies who flew planes into their targets on 911. And would have reasoned with Sadaam (that worked great), and with Usama.
* And finally, Gore says our general welfare is threatened when our government stops serving the interests of all its people, and instead skews its policies toward the wealthy and privileged.
-- It is to laugh. Gore IS WEALTHY AND PRIVILEGED. He hangs out with wealthy and famous people. His patron and his father's was Armand Hammer (Oxy Petro Owner - to whom the Gore's sold their soul)
As for solutions, the book offers only one: Gore in '08! OK, not really. Just wanted to see if you were still with me.
-- Darlin, I was never with ya on this. Anyone who thinks that a gigantic theme park based around a happy rat is worth a book got a problem. And doesn't know anything about anything serious.
Actually, the book closes by arguing that, now more than ever, our citizens must be well informed and must feel like they are part of the political process. It holds out hope that the internet is the key, and that television could play a part by doing things like scheduling Congressional debates in prime time. Gore also claims that we need additional campaign reform, including making contributions more transparent.
-- Stop. Think for a moment. Congressional Debates in Prime Time. Up against American Idol. Will draw big. Yup. Big. As far as transparency on campaign finance, how about Fat Albert's own brush with the law on this one.
My favorite part of the book is early on, when Gore argues that the main cause of the decline of reasoned political thought is television. He contends that when more Americans started getting their news from TV instead of newspapers, the emphasis changed from reading, an activity that by its nature activates the parts of the brain involved with reasoning, to watching, which elicits emotion but not thought. Recalling the words of Thomas Jefferson, Gore writes: "The 'well-informed citizenry' is in danger of becoming the 'well-amused audience.'"
-- I wish Gore only amused me. I can't disagree with the problems with TV - I produced a program called "The Death of Television". But maybe he doesn't have time to watch the good TV that's out there. And I suspect the first books he would put on anyone's list would be... his.
In my work, I spend many evenings at Walt Disney World, which concludes each day with a gigantic fireworks show. Called Wishes, it closes with children singing "If you keep on believing, a wish that you make will come true." I know it sounds trite, but perhaps those prerecorded kids have a point. Reading this book, I felt like I was back in my 1970s high school civics class, a time when the present had its problems, but the future seemed so bright. Maybe it can still be. If not for me, at least for my daughter.
-- If Gore keeps on believing, does that mean that he'll keep on running for President. Even after he wouldn't be able to fit through the doors of the White House.

Al Gore is Such a Liar.... His "Carbon Offsets" not so Green
A lot of talk lately is wondering how Al Gore can have a net worth of 100 mill, yet claim to have donated all his profits from his ecotistical Global Warming campaign to non-profits. Everyone knows he's lying.
Lately, the story is how he buys his carbon offsets from a company he himself owns.
This is old news, posted in many places a year and a half ago.
But what we did when we first heard the story was check out the recipient and found out that regardless of what they claim to do, what they don't do is invest in green things.
We published the following in December of 2007.

More Gore Eco-Whore Lore - Best of CBL - February 2007
Who ever writes this book is gonna have a bestseller without having to work very hard...
Gore's hypocrisy is better documented than the evils of marijuana (which he got caught on for doing frequently in the Army).
There are 224,000 hits on Google for "Al Gore" "Hypocrite". I'm not going to link to them all.
Al Gore on Kyoto
“Signing the Protocol, while an important step forward, imposes no obligations on the United States. The Protocol becomes binding only with the advice and consent of the US Senate. As we have said before, we will not submit the Protocol for ratification without the meaningful participation of key developing countries in efforts to address climate change.”
Here
During the 1992 election campaign, for example, a Nashville television station obtained footage proving the existence of a dump filled with aluminum cans, old tires, and filters of waste oil - a dump Gore insisted did not exist - on property owned by Gore's father.
More recently, in March 1996, the Denver Water Department released an extra 96 million gallons of water - enough for 300 families for a year - to improve the backdrop for a campaign photo-op for Gore in front of the South Platte River.
Even though he has supposedly long been a foe of logging the old-growth forests of the Pacific Northwest, shortly after being sworn in as Vice President, Gore added a verandah made of old-growth redwood and Douglas fir to the Vice President's mansion.
Even GNN Had Something to Say
And after pressure from big corporations like chemical giant DuPont, the Clinton administration, with guidance from Gore’s office, cut numerous deals over the pesticide Methyl Bromide despite its reported effects of contributing to Ozone depletion. (Much more at the link)

Gore's hypocrisy is better documented than the evils of marijuana (which he got caught on for doing frequently in the Army).
There are 224,000 hits on Google for "Al Gore" "Hypocrite". I'm not going to link to them all.

The Facts, Ma'am. Just the Facts.
Grassfire.org Climate Alarmism Backgrounder Updated 6/11/08
Thanks to the efforts and commitment of this planet-saving organization, 112,000,000 lbs. of CO2 was added to the earth's atmosphere on June 12 as a result of human belching.
Basic Tenets of Climate Alarmism
#1--The earth is warming at an abnormal pace
#2--Man is the primary cause of this warming (anthropogenic global warming, AGW)
#3--The warming trend is dangerous/catastrophic
#4 --Man can do something to save the planet from the man-made warming
Tenet #1-- Is The earth warming abnormally?
Al Gore: “We are now in a planetary emergency, and we cannot afford the luxury of allowing the oil and coal industry to prop up their surrogates in the lying right-wing media." (NBC Today 4/1/07)
A. Current Warming Consistent With History
*Fact--Earth emerged from “Little Ice Age” about 150 years ago (extremely low sunspot activity); steadily (and naturally) warming.
*Fact--Earth has experienced much warmer periods than today: Medieval Warming Period (Medieval Climate Optimum, 1100AD)
*Current warming since 1900: .74 degrees Celcius
*”Icecore data from the ACIA (Arctic Climate Impact Assessment) shows that temperatures have fallen since around 4,000 years ago (the Bronze Age Climate Optimum) while CO2 levels have risen.”
B. Recent Warming not alarming
*Pre 1940 warming not attributable to AGW
*Climate cooled from 1940-1975 during rising GHG. TIME 6/24/74: “Another Ice Age?”
*Questionable whether any warming from 75-96
*No warming trend since 1998; new studies show global cooling thru 2015
*In Solar Cycle 24, very low sunspot activity--may lead to global cooling.
C. Weather stations not in compliance
* Meteorologist Anthony Watts has monitored nearly half of US monitoring stations: “the vast majority of them are out of compliance of NOAA's own published specifications for station sighting.”
*100 foot rule -- 87% break this rule
*56% have artificial heating source within 10 meters; 13% sit next to/above heating source; thus, 69% within 10 meters.
Tenet #2 -- Man is the primary cause of GW
IPCC: “…[W]e are now at least 90% certain that this is mostly due to human activities.”
A. Is There Really Scientific Consensus?
*Manhattan Declaration: “That there is no convincing evidence that CO2 emissions from modern industrial activity has in the past, is now, or will in the future cause catastrophic climate change.”
*31,000 scientists have signed a statement contesting the conclusion of AGW; called the Oregon Petition.
*Bill Gray, nation’s preeminent hurricane forecaster; MIT's Richard Lindzen, Neil Frank (former director Ntl Hurricance Ctr) all reject AGWarming
B. CO2 and man-made CO2 represents a fraction of the total greenhouse gases
*CO2 has risen from 280ppm to 360ppm; doubling of CO2 at most is 2 degree temp increase
*Water vapor is the “most important atmospheric greenhouse gas”
*water vapor accounts for 95% of the greenhouse effect. (govt figures discount)
C. Rising CO2 follows warming!
*The ice core data reveals that CO2 changes FOLLOW climate warming, so the long lens of history does not show that CO2 is even a good predictor (never mind cause) of global warming.
D. Sun causes global warming? What a concept!
*”There now is little doubt that solar-wind variability is a primary cause of climate change on a decadal time scale.”
*It is reasonable to theorize that the sun (not man) is the prime-mover of fluctuations in the earth's temp
*could be sun spots, level of cloud cover.
Tenet #3--Is warming dangerous/catastrophic?
A. Al Gore’s Dire Predictions…And Reality
*Al Gore: GW causes disastrous weather events (see his movie promo image).
*Gore’s movie full of inaccuracies according to British judge; requires disclaimers when used in school.
*20 foot sea level rise; snows of Kilimanjaro, drowning polar bears, Hurricane Katrina--all rebuffed
*MIT Professor Kerry Emanuel-- the key scientist for Al Gore’s theory-- has recanted and now says GW and severe hurricanes not connected; may drop over next 100 years.
*IF true, GW would cause less temp diff between poles and equator and thus less tropical storms
B. Rise in CO2 might actually be GOOD!
*CO2 not a pollutant! Necessary for life (FYI catalydic converters convert CO into CO2!)
*Rising CO2 good for plants and animals and good for the economy (+$37billion by 2050 if CO2 doubles)
*Gross Primary Production (GPP) of plant life up 6.2% in past two decades
Tenet #4--Can man solve problem anyways?
Time Mag: “Everyone agrees that it's necessary to reduce carbon emissions around the world.”
Man’s Efforts Won’t Work Anyways
*”The Kyoto Protocol– even if punctiliously observed by all participating nations – would decrease calculated future temperatures by only 0.02 degrees C by 2050, an undetectable amount.

"It is incumbent upon us to proceed down a path of least risk to humanity"
The title above is taken from here in a posting by someone with the name of "Don B". He concludes that there are four options and that the only alternative that will really allow satisfaction of this post's title is "3."
His alternative courses of action (which are logically self evident) are:
1. The "Al Gore" camp is wrong and the world does nothing.
2. The "Al Gore" camp is wrong but the world assumes the opposite and does something.
3. The "Al Gore" camp is right and the world agrees and does something.
4. The "Al Gore" camp is right and the world does nothing.
The result of 1 is STATUS QUO.
The result of 2 is an EXPENSIVE but HEALTHIER ENVIRONMENT.
The result of 3 is a BETTER FUTURE and MILLIONS of LIVES SAVED.
The result of 4 is AT LEAST 2 BILLION DIE NEEDLESSLY.
But his logic which seems to appear in his identification of alternative courses of action doesn't follow.
1. To assume that the world (I guess he really means people) will do nothing is ridiculous. Humans have survived longer than the wooly mammoth because of our ability to adapt. Whether through invention or mobility, mankind has managed to survive tremendous upheaval. We would adapt.
2. and 3. Assumes that "doing something" is simple to the point of being simple-minded. It assumes that there is no net cost to "doing something". It does not consider that the economic disruption of "doing something" might result in the starvation of billions if food cannot be produced or distributed.
4. Assumes that there are no possible beneficial effects of "doing nothing" such as, for example, fewer people starving as a result of a greater ability to produce food in a warmer climate.
The title as it is borrowed from "Don B" is also fallacious in its point made. We accept risks as a species all the time because the costs of some safety measures are prohibitive. We could legislate for safety reasons, as an example, that all people never leave their homes because of the risk of getting hit by a car. A real example in history is the well publicized effect of saving people in Africa by ending the use of DDT, which has resulted in millions dying from malaria.
We should not quickly accept statements of attempted logic as having any validity, because as often as not, something that sounds rational, is not.

More Big Fat Lying Liar Al Gore Lies

Key Points
The title of Al Gore's latest book, The Assault on Reason, says it all. Illogicalities, non sequiturs, false analogies, fallacies, ad hominem (or rather ad Exxoninem) arguments all tumble forth in profusion from its pages.
... according to Mr. Gore, the president is intent on using the war against terror as an excuse to overturn the U.S. Constitution and set up a corporate plutocracy as part of a plot to achieve world "domination"
...Abu Ghraib, whose horrors increase with the length of the book. (On page 150, 90% of its inmates are declared to be innocent. By page 208, that figure has grown to 99%)
... democracy has been subverted by the decline of the printed word . . . and the rise of television, a "one-way" medium that is controlled by evil corporations in league with a Bush White House. ... However, a newspaper seems pretty "one-way." As does -- come to think about it -- a book. Sure, you can scribble "BS!" in the margins, but you soon run out of lead with a book like this. . . .
presumably, you would never find Al Gore getting on, say, Jon Stewart or David Letterman. And you'd never find the publishing subsidiary of a giant corporation (say, Penguin) from publishing a book by him
But what makes them really sinister is that they have the insights of professional media manipulators at their disposal. So, let's say they were to publish a book by a guy whose physique now resembles that of Orson Welles or Marlon Brando in their latter years, they'd print a much younger and slimmer picture on the dust jacket, making him look like Superman in civvies. The manipulation! But I digress ?
The most stunning -- and frightening -- aspect of Gore's bipolar book is that he constantly calls for more discussion and public input, but when it comes to his obsession, man-made climate change, he declares the debate closed.

A Guide To The Lies of Al Gore
Lead to Christopher Monckton's Original Article came courtesy Hat Tip to Paul at CJunk
1/ "Sea Level Rising 6 metres"
Gore exaggerates sea-level changes by 10,000%. Gore says that the world as we now it will have sea-levels up to 20 ft. higher from arctic melt. The IPCC says an increase of this scale would only occur after several millennia and that the arctic melt would only contribute about 2.5 inches. The IPCC report also estimates that the likelihood of humankind having any influence on sea level at all is little better than 50:50.
2/ "Pacific Islands Drowning"
Gore says low-lying inhabited Pacific coral atolls are already being inundated because of AGW. There have been no mass evacuations of populations of islanders as suggested by Gore; the tide-gauges maintained until recently by the National Tidal Facility of Australia show a mean annual sea-level rise over the past half-century equivalent to the thickness of a human hair.
3/ "Thermohaline Circulation Stopping"
Gore says “global warming” may shut down the thermohaline circulation (i.e. the Gulf Stream) in the oceans, plunging Europe into an ice age. It will not. Indications of a sustained thermohaline circulation weakening are not seen during the last few decades. Instead, a strengthening since the 1980s is observed.
4/ "CO2 Driving Temperature Change"
Gore says that in each of the last four interglacial warm periods it was changes in carbon dioxide concentration that caused changes in temperature. It was the other way about. Changes in temperature preceded changes in CO2 concentration by between 800 and 2800 years, as scientific papers including the paper on which Gore’s film had relied had made clear.
5/ "Snows of Kilimanjaro Melting"
Gore says “global warming” has been melting the snows of Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa. It is not. The melting of the Furtwangler Glacier at the summit of the mountain began 125 years ago. More of the glacier had melted before Hemingway wrote The Snows of Kilimanjaro in 1936 than afterward. Temperature at the summit never rises above freezing and is at an average of –7 Celsius.
6/ "Lake Chad Drying Up"
Gore says “global warming” dried up Lake Chad in Africa. It did not. Over-extraction of water and changing agricultural patterns dried the lake, which was also dry in 8500BC, 5500BC, 1000BC and 100BC. Ms. Kreider says, “There are multiple stresses upon Lake Chad.” However, the scientific consensus is that at present those “stresses” do not include “global warming.”
7/ "Hurricane Katrina Man-Made
Gore says Hurricane Katrina, that devastated New Orleans in 2005, was caused by “global warming.” It was not. It was caused by the failure of Gore’s party, in the administration of New Orleans, to heed 30 years of warnings by the Corps of Engineers that the levees – dams that kept New Orleans dry – could not stand a direct hit by a hurricane. Katrina was only Category 3 when it struck the levees. They failed, as the Engineers had said they would. Gore’s party, not “global warming,” was to blame for the consequent death and destruction.
8/ "Polar Bears Dying Out"
Gore says a scientific study shows that polar bears are being killed swimming long distances to find ice that has melted away because of “global warming.” They are not. A report for the World Wide Fund for Nature shows that polar bears, which are warm-blooded, have grown in numbers where temperature has increased, and have become fewer where temperature has fallen. In 1940, there were just 5,000 polar bears worldwide now there are 25,000.
9/ "Coral Reefs Bleaching"
Gore says coral reefs are “bleaching” because of “global warming.” They are not. There was some bleaching in 1998, but this was caused by the exceptional El Nino Southern Oscillation that year. Two similarly severe El Ninos over the past 250 years also caused extensive bleaching. “Global warming” was nothing to do with it.
10/ "100 parts/million of CO2 will melt mile-thick ice"
Gore implies that the difference of just 100 parts per million by volume in CO2 concentration between an interglacial temperature maximum and an ice-age temperature minimum causes “the difference between a nice day and having a mile of ice above your head.” It does not. Gore’s implication has the effect of overstating the mainstream consensus estimate of the effect of CO2 on temperature at least tenfold.
11/ "Hurricane Caterina Man-made"
Gore says that Hurricane Caterina, the only hurricane ever to strike the coast of Brazil, was caused by “global warming.” It was not. In 2004, Brazil’s summer sea surface temperatures were cooler than normal, not warmer. But air temperatures were the coldest in 25 years. The air was so much colder than the water that it caused a heat flux from the water to the air similar to that which fuels hurricanes in warm seas.
12/ "Japanese Typhoons a New Record"
Gore says that 2004 set a new record for the number of typhoons striking Japan. It did not. The trend in the number of typhoons, and of tropical cyclones, has fallen throughout the past 50 years. The trend in rainfall from cyclones has also fallen, and there has been no trend in monsoon rainfall.
13/ "Hurricanes Getting Stronger"
Gore says scientists had been giving warnings that hurricanes will get stronger because of “global warming.” They will not. Over the past 60 years there has been no change in the strength of hurricanes, even though hydrocarbon use went up six-fold in the same period.
14/ "Insurance Losses from Big Storms Increasing"
Gore says insurance losses arising from large storms and other extreme-weather events are increasing, by implication because of “global warming.” They are not. Insured losses, as a percentage of the population of coastal areas in the path of hurricanes, were lower even in 2005 than they had been in 1925. In 2006, a very quiet hurricane season, Lloyds of London posted their biggest-ever profit: £3.6 billion.
15/ "Mumbai Flooding"
Gore says flooding in Mumbai is increasing, by implication because of “global warming.” It is not. Rainfall trends at the two major weather stations in Mumbai show no increase in heavy rainfall over the past 48 years.
16/ 'Severe Tornadoes More Frequent"
Gore says that 2004 set an all-time record for tornadoes in the US. More tornadoes are being reported because detection systems are better than they were. But the number of severe tornadoes has been falling for more than 50 years.
17/ "Sun Heats the Arctic Ocean"
Gore says that ice-melt allows the Sun to heat the Arctic Ocean, and a diagram shows the Sun’s rays heating it directly. It does not. The ocean emits radiant energy at the moment of absorption, and would freeze if there were no atmosphere. It is the atmosphere, not the Sun that warms the ocean. Also, Gore’s diagram confuses the tropopause with the ionosphere, and he makes a number of other errors indicating that he does not understand the elementary physics of radiative transfer.
18/ "Arctic Warming Fastest"
Gore says the Arctic has been warming faster than the rest of the planet. It is not. Gore does not mention that the Arctic has been cooling over the past 60 years, and is now one degree Celsius cooler than it was in the 1940s.
19/ "Greenland Ice Sheet – Unstable"
Gore says “global warming” is making the Greenland ice sheet unstable. It is not. Greenland ice grows 2 inches a year. The Greenland ice sheet survived each of the previous three interglacial periods, each of which was 5 degrees Celsius warmer than the present. It survived atmospheric CO2 concentrations of up to 1000 ppmv (compared with today’s 400 ppmv). It last melted 850,000 years ago, when humankind did not exist and could not have caused the melting.
20/ "Himalayan Glacial Melt Waters Failing"
Gore says 40% of the world’s population get their water supply from Himalayan glacial melt waters that are failing because of “global warming.” They don’t and they are not. The water comes almost entirely from snow-melt, not from ice-melt. Over the past 40 years there has been no decline in the amount of snow-melt in Eurasia.
21/ "Peruvian Glaciers Disappearing"
Gore says that a Peruvian glacier is less extensive now than it was in the 1940s, implying that “global warming” is the cause. It is not. Except for the very highest peaks, the normal state of the Peruvian cordilleras has been ice-free throughout most of the past 10,000 years.
22/ "Mountain Glaciers Worldwide Disappearing"
Gore shows several before-and-after pictures of glaciers disappearing. However, the glacial melt began in the 1820s, long before humankind could have had any effect, and has continued at a uniform rate since, showing no acceleration since humankind began increasing the quantity of CO2 in the atmosphere. Total ice volumes in three of the last four Ice Ages were lower than they are today, and “global warming” had nothing to do with that.
23/ "Sahara Desert Drying"
Gore says terrible tragedies are occurring in the southern Sahara because of drought which he blames on “global warming.” There is no drought caused by “global warming.” In 2007 there were record rains across the whole of the southern Sahara. In the past 25 years the Sahara has shrunk by some 300,000 square kilometers because of additional rainfall.
24/ "West Antarctic Ice Sheet Unstable"
Gore says disturbing changes have been measured under the West Antarctic ice sheet, implicitly because of “global warming.” Yet most of the recession in this ice sheet over the past 10,000 years has occurred in the absence of any sea-level or temperature forcing. In most of Antarctica, the ice is in fact growing thicker. Mean Antarctic temperature has actually fallen throughout the past half-century.
25/ "Antarctic Peninsula Ice Shelves Breaking Up"
Gore says half a dozen ice shelves each “larger than Rhode Island” have broken up and vanished from the Antarctic Peninsula recently, implicitly because of “global warming.” Gore does not explain that the ice shelves have melted before, as studies of seabed sediments have shown. The Antarctic Peninsula accounts for about 2% of the continent, in most of which the ice is growing thicker.
26/ "Larson B Ice Shelf Broke Up Because of Global Warming"
Gore focuses on the Larsen B ice shelf, saying that it completely disappeared in 35 days. Yet there has been extensive ice-shelf break-up throughout the past 10,000 years, and the maximum ice-shelf extent may have been in the Little Ice Age in the late 15th century.
27/ "Mosquitoes Climbing to Higher Altitudes"
Gore says that, because of “global warming”, mosquitoes are climbing to higher altitudes. They are not. Most recent outbreaks have been at lower levels than those of a century and more ago. He says that Nairobi was founded 1000 m above sea level so as to be above the mosquito line. It was not.
28/ "Many Tropical Diseases Spread Through Global Warming"
Gore says that, as well as malaria, “global warming” is spreading dengue fever, Lyme disease, West Nile virus, arena virus, avian flu, Ebola virus, E. Coli 0157:H7, Hanta virus, legionella, leptospirosis, multi-drug-resistant TB, Nipah virus, SARS and Vibrio Cholerae 0139. It is doing no such thing. Only the first four diseases are insect-borne, but none is tropical. Of the other diseases named by Gore either in his film or in the accompanying book, not one is sensitive to increasing temperature.
29/ "West Nile Virus Spread Through Global Warming"
Gore says that West Nile virus spread throughout the US in just two years, implicitly because of “global warming.” It did not. The climate in the US ranges from some of the world’s hottest deserts to some of its iciest tundra. West Nile virus flourishes in any climate. Warming of the climate, however caused, does not affect its incidence or prevalence.
30/ "Carbon Dioxide is Pollution"
Gore describes carbon dioxide as “global warming pollution.” It is not. It is food for plants and trees. Tests have shown that even at concentrations 30 times those of the present day even the most delicate plants flourish. Carbon dioxide, in geological timescale, is at a very low concentration at present.
31/ "The European Heat Wave of 2003 Killed 35,000"
Gore says, “A couple of years ago in Europe they had that heat wave that killed 35,000.” The scientific consensus is that extreme warm anomalies more unusual than the 2003 heat wave occur regularly; extreme cold anomalies also occur regularly. In general, warm is better than cold, which is why the largest number of life-forms are in the tropics and the least number are at the poles.
32/ "Pied Flycatchers Cannot Feed Their Young"
Gore says “The peak arrival date for migratory birds 25 years ago was April 25. Their chicks hatched on June 3, just at the time when the caterpillars were coming out: Nature’s plan. But 20 years of warming later the caterpillars peaked two weeks earlier. The chicks tried to catch up with it, but they couldn’t. So they are in trouble.” Yet adaptation is easy for the flycatchers: they merely fly a few tens of kilometers further north and they will find caterpillars hatching at the appropriate time.
33/ "The Famous Ice Collapse Footage"
Gore misuses spectacular footage of a glacier apparently calving off enormous slabs of ice into the sea – footage that is often shown on television to accompany stories about “global warming.” It is in southern Argentina, where its snout crosses – and eventually dams, Lake Argentino. Water builds up behind the ice dam and eventually bursts it, causing the spectacular collapse of ice into the lake that is so misleadingly used as the iconic image of the effect of “global warming” on glaciers. The breaking of the ice dam used to occur every eight years or so: now, however, it occurs every five years, not because of “global warming” because of the regional cooling of the southern Atlantic.
34/ "Thames Barrier Closing More Frequently"
Gore says that rising sea levels are compelling the operators of the Thames Barrier to close it more frequently than when it was first built. They are not. The reason is a change of policy by which the barrier is closed during exceptionally low tides, so as to retain water in the tidal Thames rather than keeping it out.
35/ "No Fact In Dispute by Anybody"
Gore says that his prediction that the atmospheric concentration of carbon dioxide will rise to more than 600 parts per million by volume as soon as 2050 is “not controversial in any way or in dispute by anybody.” However, not one of the half-dozen official projections of growth in CO2 concentration made by the IPCC shows as much as 600 parts per million by 2050.

The reason is a change of policy by which the barrier is closed during exceptionally low tides, so as to retain water in the tidal Thames rather than keeping it out.
35/ "No Fact In Dispute by Anybody"

There is No Limit to the Disgust That Al Gore Deserves
Another Great Find by Tom Nelson
Thirty days after Steve McIntyre caught NASA cooking climate history again - this time in a feeble attempt to somehow conceal the alarmist-embarrassing downward trend since 1998 -- Al Gore shamelessly portrayed Saturday's Myanmar cyclone catastrophe as a ‘consequence' of global warming.
A mere 16 days after NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory confirmed that the Pacific Decadal Oscillation's cool phase shift would likely bring colder temperatures for as many as the next 20-30 years, Gore told NPR that the "trend toward stronger and more destructive storms appears to be linked to global warming and specifically to the impact of global warming on higher ocean temperatures." This just 6 days after a German study also predicted cooler ocean temperatures due to the Meridional Overturning Circulation entering a weak cycle, and in spite of there being absolutely no empirical evidence of a global warming / storm strength link.
Gore's monotonous and baseless account of AGW forced violent cyclones and hurricanes came just two days after McIntyre reported that 4 of the past 5 months were "'all-time' records for Southern Hemisphere sea ice" levels.
In fact, it was the very day after Anthony Watts reported another false start to the distinctly overdue Solar Cycle 24, a likely contributory factor to falling global temperatures, that the Nobel Peace Prize winner exploited the deaths of over 22,000 (reported and still rising) human beings to egoistically advance his threatened AGW political agenda while callously protecting his personal financial interest.
And with 41,000 reported missing since Cyclone Nargis devastated the former Burma, the death figures are sure to rise to unthinkable numbers. Meanwhile, the nation's corrupt military rulers are making aid delivery to ease survivor misery nearly impossible.
And while these poor souls will undoubtedly see years of unimaginable suffering and the arduous rebuilding of over a million destroyed homes, this man -- who professes his desire to save the planet - saw another opportunity. That it arrived at the end of a one month period in which another wheel fell off the greenhouse gas disinformation bus almost daily only adds to the morass.
This was an astonishingly nauseating display -- even for the likes of Gore.

Al Gore Continues and Expands His Hypocrisy
In the year since Al Gore took steps to make his home more energy-efficient, the former Vice President’s home energy use surged more than 10%, according to the Tennessee Center for Policy Research. [...]
After the Tennessee Center for Policy Research exposed Gore’s massive home energy use, the former Vice President scurried to make his home more energy-efficient. Despite adding solar panels, installing a geothermal system, replacing existing light bulbs with more efficient models, and overhauling the home’s windows and ductwork, Gore now consumes more electricity than before the “green” overhaul.
Since taking steps to make his home more environmentally-friendly last June, Gore devours an average of 17,768 kWh per month –1,638 kWh more energy per month than before the renovations – at a cost of $16,533. By comparison, the average American household consumes 11,040 kWh in an entire year, according to the Energy Information Administration.

The AGW Scientific Consensus is In - And Gorezuki Ain't It !!
Found by The Politic here's link to the Original Source
Israel: “First, temperature changes, as well as rates of temperature changes (both increase and decrease) of magnitudes similar to that reported by IPCC to have occurred since the Industrial revolution (about 0.8C in 150 years or even 0.4C in the last 35 years) have occurred in Earth's climatic history. There's nothing special about the recent rise!”
Russia: “Even if the concentration of ‘greenhouse gases’ double man would not perceive the temperature impact.”
Spain: Anton Uriarte, a professor of Physical Geography at the University of the Basque Country in Spain and author of a book on the paleoclimate, rejected man-made climate fears in 2007. “There's no need to be worried. It's very interesting to study [climate change], but there's no need to be worried,” Uriate wrote.
Netherlands: “I find the Doomsday picture Al Gore is painting – a six-meter sea level rise, fifteen times the IPCC number – entirely without merit. I protest vigorously the idea that the climate reacts like a home heating system to a changed setting of the thermostat: just turn the dial, and the desired temperature will soon be reached."
Brazil: “The media is promoting an unprecedented hyping related to global warming. The media and many scientists are ignoring very important facts that point to a natural variation in the climate system as the cause of the recent global warming.”
France: “Day after day, the same mantra - that ‘the Earth is warming up’ - is churned out in all its forms. As ‘the ice melts’ and ‘sea level rises,’ the Apocalypse looms ever nearer! Without realizing it, or perhaps without wishing to, the average citizen in bamboozled, lobotomized, lulled into mindless acceptance.”
Norway: “It is a search for a mythical CO2 sink to explain an immeasurable CO2 lifetime to fit a hypothetical CO2 computer model that purports to show that an impossible amount of fossil fuel burning is heating the atmosphere. It is all a fiction.”
Finland: “The effect of solar winds on cosmic radiation has just recently been established and, furthermore, there seems to be a good correlation between cloudiness and variations in the intensity of cosmic radiation. Here we have a mechanism which is a far better explanation to variations in global climate than the attempts by IPCC to blame it all on anthropogenic input of greenhouse gases. “
Germany: “I consider the part of the IPCC report, which I can really judge as an expert, i.e. the reconstruction of the paleoclimate, wrong.”
Canada:“To my dismay, IPCC authors ignored all my comments and suggestions for major changes in the FOD (First Order Draft) and sent me the SOD (Second Order Draft) with essentially the same text as the FOD. None of the authors of the chapter bothered to directly communicate with me (or with other expert reviewers with whom I communicate on a regular basis) on many issues that were raised in my review. This is not an acceptable scientific review process.”
Czech Republic: “The only thing to worry about is the damage that can be done by worrying. Why are some scientists worried? Perhaps because they feel that to stop worrying may mean to stop being paid,”
India: “We appear to be overplaying this global warming issue as global warming is nothing new. It has happened in the past, not once but several times, giving rise to glacial-interglacial cycles.”
USA: “Al Gore brought me back to the battle and prompted me to do renewed research in the field of climatology. And because of all the misinformation that Gore and his army have been spreading about climate change I have decided that ‘real’ climatologists should try to help the public understand the nature of the problem.”
Italy: “Significant new peer-reviewed research has cast even more doubt on the hypothesis of dangerous human-caused global warming."
New Zealand: “The [IPCC] ‘Summary for Policymakers’ might get a few readers, but the main purpose of the report is to provide a spurious scientific backup for the absurd claims of the worldwide environmentalist lobby that it has been established scientifically that increases in carbon dioxide are harmful to the climate. It just does not matter that this ain't so.”
South Africa: “The global-warming mania continues with more and more hype and less and less thinking. With religious zeal, people look for issues or events to blame on global warming.”
Poland: “We thus find ourselves in the situation that the entire theory of man-made global warming—with its repercussions in science, and its important consequences for politics and the global economy—is based on ice core studies that provided a false picture of the atmospheric CO2 levels.”
Australia: "There is new work emerging even in the last few weeks that shows we can have a very close correlation between the temperatures of the Earth and supernova and solar radiation.”
Britain: “To date, no convincing evidence for AGW (anthropogenic global warming) has been discovered. And recent global climate behavior is not consistent with AGW model predictions.”
China: "Although the CO2 greenhouse effect on global climate change is unsuspicious, it could have been excessively exaggerated."
Denmark: “The sun is the source of the energy that causes the motion of the atmosphere and thereby controls weather and climate. Any change in the energy from the sun received at the Earth’s surface will therefore affect climate.”
Belgium: “Not CO2, but water vapor is the most important greenhouse gas. It is responsible for at least 75 % of the greenhouse effect. This is a simple scientific fact, but Al Gore's movie has hyped CO2 so much that nobody seems to take note of it.”
Sweden: “Another of these hysterical views of our climate. Newspapers should think about the damage they are doing to many persons, particularly young kids, by spreading the exaggerated views of a human impact on climate.”
USA: “In point of fact, the hypothesis that solar variability and not human activity is warming the oceans goes a long way to explain the puzzling idea that the Earth's surface may be warming while the atmosphere is not. The GHG (greenhouse gas) hypothesis does not do this. The public is not well served by this constant drumbeat of false alarms fed by computer models manipulated by advocates.”

Gore Family Owned by Armand Hammer
A few years ago a friend of mind advised of how she had travelled from London to Washington with Al Gore in a private jet in the 80's. As well as determining from experience that Al was a lech, she learned that she was flying in Armand Hammer's private plane.
In a recent post I noted (from a USA Today post of all places) that Al Gore was administering a family trust that included a considerable investment in Occidental Petroleum. Who owned Oxy Petro? Armand Hammer.
Who was among the most venial capitalists in the 20th century, walking over and poisoning all below? Armand Hammer.
Who did Armand Hammer claim to own? The Gore Family

Proof That Al Gore Doesn't Even Believe Himself . . .
There are lots of reports on how Al Gore acquired another residence - a condo in San Francisco.
Well, his Condo is at the St. Regis on 3rd between Mission and Minna.
I dug around a little bit and found an interactive tool that allows specific spots on the map to be evaluated for sea level effect due to Global Warming.
Want proof that Gore isn't too worried about his 20 foot sea level increase promise?
His building is in one of the areas he expects to be claimed by the sea.

How Credible is Al Gore?
Open Thread - More Examples Encouraged...
Albert Gore is about to win an Academy Award for a film that might best qualify for Best Fictionalized Version of a Series of Unsubstantiated Events.
And with his ego, I suspect he will love his little statuette much more that he does his children or wife. It will surely be in a place of honour at his home, be in the background of every picture taken of him, and replace "used to be the next President of the United States" in his introductions. Okay, nor replace, but precede.
I remember a biography of Gore on PBS back when he was running for POTUS, and the story of him un-inviting his father from participating in his Senate campaign (because his Dad had lost the Senate seat in the previous election) and his ratting out football teammates at Yale for breaking curfew. So from that point on, although I had liked Bill Clinton, I could never support his backstabbing Veep.
Gore's film has been subjected to considerable professional criticism for its lack of accuracy. Most recently here (ht to Celestial Junk).
Given the fact that Al, may be slightly stretching the truth on Anthropogenic Global Warming, and taking into account his disputed claim to invention of the internet and his significant role in the Campaign Financing Scandal, ("I didn't do it and I promise never to do it again"), I wonder what else is out there about he who is determined to safe us from ourselves, whether we want him to or not?
Any more stuff we should know?

The Global Warming Debate is Over
Just not the way that Al Gore and David Suzuki would like...
I find it hard to work up much high dudgeon about Anthropomorphic Global Warming / Climate Change anymore. There is just nothing left to say.
People who actually look at the facts come in only two categories: bought and paid for by money they make by trying to scare the bejeezus out of people about the climate, and those that say it's a load of hooey.
The most critical factor in the debate is the effect on man-made Carbon Dioxide on the climate. The supposition by the Alwarmists is that it leads to warmer temperatures. And all their formulae on future changes to the climate are based on higher levels of CO2 spewed by existing industrial economies and others that will soon join the club.
There is no evidence of this; it seems that historically CO2 did increase some centuries after warm periods, but not the other way around.
But the problem is that CO2 has increased steadily over the past decade, yet temperatures have not increased. Temps are at this moment almost exactly at the levels they were 100 years ago. There is no global warming, and any attempt to blame current famines or droughts on such a theory is disingenuous.
This means that all their fancy formulae are irrelevant and wrong.
Without that argument, they have nothing to say.
So it's over.
Polar Bears are doing fine, thank you. So well that they don't often come into town anymore to look for juicy pedestrians. The North Pole is frozen solid and surrounded by as much ice as ever been recorded. Even almost the entirety of two hot spots of focus on AGW (Antarctica and Greenland) are seeing the vast majority of their ice fields grow larger, not melting. And people in North America (the only ones that matter) have suffered through two consecutive bone numbingly cold winters and springs. I know - I saw You Think You Can Dance hopefuls in North Carolina, Memphis and Los Angeles wearing winter clothes when standing in line.
The leap away from logic is based on the belief that people are so stupid that they will trust Alwarmist rhetoric more than their lying eyes. But people are smart enough to know that having sun is good and not having sun is bad. Meanwhile, revelations on the expected economic costs of shelling out trillions to solve a problem that doesn't exist, will kill any real consensus that AGW exists and along with it any carbon taxing legislation.
So bye-bye Al Gore, David Suzuki and Jim Hansen.
You're no longer pulling any strings nor do you have any influence.
Good riddance. Take the tens of millions of bucks you fraudulently took from average people and get lost.

The Gorezuki Paradox
No - not a Ludlum novel coming to a Chapters near you, but a consideration on how Al "Fever Blister" Gore and David "Kooky" Suzuki are destined to never be held accountable for the devastation that they are trying to wreak on the planet.
Russian scientists are saying that we are in the early stages of a cooling period. Almost all the readers of this piece are likely to remember the 70's/80's when Suzuki archetypes were preaching the risks of a new ice age.
Almost certainly, all of you will remember when the death of the ozone level (caused by hairspray and deodorant) would require every golfer to wear a fireproof suit.
Well, these foretold disasters simply never happened. The ozone level is topped up again and the Gorezukis are convincing the weak minded that we are all gonna fry and die, not freeze.
Meanwhile, Al Gore is pocketing something like $25 million a year preaching that the world will end.
The paradox is that Gore and Suzuki and his ilk can NEVER be held responsible when they are proven wrong.
Both will have amassed vast fortunes for the benefit of their descendants by the time they will have been proven to be charlatans.
They can't lose.
Good scam if you can get it.

Common Sense Reponse to Gore From Lomborg
Amid all the Noise - A Pile of Common Sense Found by Fred at Gay and Right.
Here is a summary of points made in NY Post Article:
AL GORE and the many people he has inspired on the global-warming issue have good will and great intentions. However, he has gotten carried away and come to show only worst-case scenarios. . .
In short, Gore's prescriptions would in effect present an obstacle to saving millions of lives. . .
Climate change is not the only issue on the global agenda, and actually one of the issues where we can do the least good first. . .
Yes, the media often carry far more dire descriptions of warming's consequences. Gore, for example: "We have just 10 years to avert a major catastrophe that could send our entire planet into a tail-spin of epic destruction involving extreme weather, floods, droughts, epidemics and killer heat waves beyond anything we have ever experienced." A fine phrase for such talk is "climate porn": This kind of language makes any sensible policy dialogue about our global choices impossible.
It is also simply wrong. . .
The 2007 U.N. report on the issue estimated that sea levels will rise a little over a foot during the rest of the century. This is not a trivial amount - but it is also not outside historical experience. Since 1850, we have experienced a sea level rise of about one foot, yet this has clearly not caused major disruptions. . .
THE current raft of policies that are either enacted or suggested to combat warming are costly but have virtually no effect. . . As the nearby chart shows, Kyoto - even if it had been successfully adopted by all signatories (including the United States), and fully adhered to throughout the century - would have postponed warming by just five years, at a cost of $180 billion a year. . .
There are many world problems - like HIV, malnutrition, trade barriers, malaria, lack of clean drinking water - where we can do immense amounts of good. It seem obvious to me that we should focus our attention and our big expenditures there first. . .
Kyoto . . . costs a lot now and does very little for the future.

Another Alarmist Predicting Catastrophes
Even Al Gore has toned down his severe weather / CO2 angle. Almost no one is saying that bad storms are tied to weather and almost no one is saying that anecdotes from today are related to Global Warming in the future.
We have not seen any weather affect from Global Warming because we have not experienced Global Warming - we're at about the same temps as a century ago - even the worst alarmists point to a very modest increase in temps. And they are careful to tell us that climate is not weather. So how can this commentator say with a straight face:

Later in the paper there was this:
And, again, there is no global warming (and even Al Gore isn't using that phrase any more).

While storms of such severity are rare, one expert predicted that we should expect more extreme storms in the future.
"If you keep pushing the climate the way we're pushing it, don't think about getting `average' weather any more," said Queen's climatologist McCaughey.
Later in the paper there was this:
The average water temperature worldwide was 17 Celsius, according to the National Climatic Data Center, the branch of the U.S. government that keeps world weather records. June was only slightly cooler, while August could set another record, scientists say. The previous record was set in July 1998 during a powerful El Nino in the Pacific.
Meteorologists said there is a combination of forces at work: A natural El Nino weather pattern just getting started on top of worsening manmade global warming, and a dash of random weather variations. Already the resulting ocean heat is harming threatened coral reefs. It also could hasten the melting of Arctic sea ice and help hurricanes strengthen.
What is an average water temperature? Did they measure ever cubic foot of water? Or did they cherry pick places where they knew they would get data they could use? The oceans have a big effect on weather and climate because the Earth is mostly water.
And, again, there is no global warming (and even Al Gore isn't using that phrase any more).
